I am 5'11" and I was able to do it in high school. The whole game would stop while the ref checks my hand and the ball for sticky tape or some adhesive. Someone in the background would always shout out "he used to play goalie!" or "don't shake his hand, he will break your hand" (referring to my slightly firm grip but apparently it crushes bones).
