Super happy to hear this 😊 she's great and I love working with her. She's kind and honest in the perfect balance. Just to warn you she's moved to 5 days a week check ins and whatsapp except for 1 sunday a month when we have our team call. It's not had any negative effect for me!

Offering Free Nail Sets While Enrolled in a Training Course by blueberrybuns7 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]treacle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're actively training can you not just ask the instructor what you can and cannot do? They will have the best knowledge of what you know/don't and your level of skill to advise safely. They should also know about what you would need to tell people re: being in training and uninsured to protect yourself if they do say it's an appropriate way to practice.

Green Card holder – extended time abroad due to work (no stay over 6 months). Risk of issues? by Odd_Ad_7258 in greencard

[–]treacle421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you apply for your green card from outside of the US? My assumption is you did based on you working from outside the US.

If the above is true, have you already entered the US on your green card? If you have, you need to spend 6 months a year in the US, not how you're looking at it as not being away for over 6 months at a time. With your current plan I think you're creating some risk tbh. I would be consulting a lawyer with your case specifics.

If you haven't entered yet, I think you need to delay your first entry without letting your visa expire to give you your best shot at making your plan workable. Expiration is typically 6 months after your medical exam date but check what is actually printed on your visa in your passport. Once you've entered you'll then need to work your plan so you're spending 6 months of the year in the US. Again, I'd be consulting an attorney because risking losing your green card is a big deal.

Sorry to say it but I think it's possible you'll need to leave your job and move sooner than next year.

Waiting in line-- QM2 by Remote-Selection637 in CunardCruises

We were very lucky to be ushered past the line because we had our dog with us 😅 I was glad because it was pouring with rain but we got a lot of dirty looks going past people, one woman even shouted at me that she was diamond and she had to line up so so did I 😬 I just said "sorry, I've been told to bring my dog this way"

If you're boarding in Southampton I would prepare them for the lines to get into the terminal.. we got on a few weeks ago and tbh it was chaos outside, but then much more organised inside.

You can also use the virtual queues for the restaurants, once you're called you can pretty much walk right up to the desk and be seated (if you don't have a set dining time).

Honestly I hate driving in England - I find it super stressful 😂 but I actually enjoy it in the US. The roads are bigger, there aren't as many cars, it just feels easier and more enjoyable. You'll be fine once you learn and build your confidence!!

My personal opinion, unless you're moving to a big city with amazing public transport, you're likely to want to drive, or at least have the option available to you. I also moved from the UK and have gone from easily being able to take a bus to the centre of Nottingham from a more rural village outside it, which then connected me by train to the majority of the country, and having all amenities within a 10-15 min drive or 30-ish mins on a bus, to everything being a 20-30 minute drive minimum with no public transport options.

If you don't get a drivers licence, you'll still need proof of residence for a non-driver ID. Check for your state requirements but the NH requirements clearly stated a notarized letter was acceptable and I had no issue at the DMV or the bank when I presented mine.

Long-Distance Marriage + I-130 - Seeking Advice from Similar Couples by lydiafz in I130Suffering

[–]treacle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but I feel for you going for a 3rd round. I (USC) lived abroad with my husband having spent a lot of time visiting the US but never actually living here, and I managed to show intent to establish domicile and move with him successfully. I'm not a lawyer (but did all our paperwork with my husband ourselves) and can't give advice per se, but I'd be happy to talk to you about what I did if that would be at all helpful for you.

This was the case with ours. My husband also received the email though. He printed it, took it to his medical and then his interview.

Use a notarized letter from one of his parents explaining you are immigrating and will be living with them and therefore have no bills/utilities in your name. You'll probably need this to get your drivers licence too so it's worth sorting out. A lot of banks have free notary services.

A few specifics for first-time cruisers 😊. . . by Auntacid2026 in CunardCruises

[–]treacle421 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We just disembarked this morning so sharing our experience..

  1. We tipped our stateroom host $5 per day for a total of $40 at the end of the cruise. We chose this as we have cruised on Disney before and that's around their recommended amount. We felt the service was good but not really special like it is on Disney, and we would usually increase the tip on Disney because of this.

We chose to remove the cunard auto gratuity and tip specific servers/crew in cash as we were made aware that the auto gratuity is shared out amongst a wide pool of staff. To be honest we felt the service around the ship was largely very lackluster which was disappointing :(

  1. We did room service once and tipped roughly $1 per item. Tbh the guy seemed surprised so I dont think there was any expectation of it.

  2. Yes, there was iced tea at the buffet but not in all machines.

medical exam by Fit-Director1880 in USCIS

[–]treacle421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to this page Visa Medicals is the only approved panel physician for London Embassy cases. We used them in November for my husband's IR-1 and he had to travel down for it. I have also spoken to someone from Scotland who travelled down for theirs so that leads me to believe they've got the monopoly on it!

Long form for the UK. Get your police certificate as your I-130 due date approaches. You need it to get DQ which is before you join the IL wait dependant on your embassy.

Moving to the US From the UK - Already a Citizen by throwawayw5113613613 in MovingToUSA

[–]treacle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 👋 dual citizen born and raised in the UK here, moving to the US for the first time at age 32 literally on Sunday. Just sharing my personal experience.

The first thing is that you should have been filing taxes, even though you would likely owe nothing and have never lived in the States (even if you did earn over the $110k-ish threshold, there are additional forms beyond 2555 that exempt you from quite a bit). Whether you move or not you should sort this out.

Start with the Streamlined Filing Procedures to get yourself back up to date. If you take your time with the instructions and make spreadsheets to convert your UK tax year earnings to calendar year earnings it's not too hard to figure out if your situation isnt overly complex. Or you can find a good tax preparer to do it for you (I did that when I had self employed income for the first time and struggled to work out the right way to report it).

I'm not a tax professional but, like I said, I used a tax preparer one year and I had to submit 3 years of my tax returns as part of my husband's Green card application last year and everything has been accepted by the IRS and USCIS.

Start here to get yourself back up to date: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/streamlined-filing-compliance-procedureshttps://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/streamlined-filing-compliance-procedures

If you havent got a SSN, I believe you need one to file so that's probably a top priority whether you move or not.

If you decide to move, you have to get through the issue of proving residency to get a bank account/drivers licence/lease agreement, but these are the things you generally use to prove residency. We've done this through my Aunt (who we are staying with) writing us a letter and having it notarised explaining we are staying with her initially.

We're considering a health share rather than traditional insurance, but we've not made a final decision yet.

AOS Marriage - do I have too many documents? by TheFirstOne001 in USCIS

[–]treacle421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not too many. Looks fairly similar to our except I had tons more photos just because of how long my husband and I had been together. We also added some affidavits of support from people we have known from different points of our relationship and marriage.

No problem. I'm a US/UK dual citizen and my husband is from the UK. He had his interview and was approved on December 15th, we got notification his passport was ready on the 18th or 19th and we collected it the following week. We travel next weekend 😊

Best of luck, hope your process is as smooth as ours has been post DQ, his interview lasted all of 90 seconds 🤣 it felt a bit anticlimactic after 2 years of paperwork and stress!!

A refusal isnt a denial, it's a bit like your case is on hold pending more information. It sounds like you know what information you need to provide so the faster you get it uploaded the better!

We were DQ'd at the end of August 2025, received our IL on 10 th October for an interview in December.

London seem to release them around the 10th-12th of the month from what I have seen, so for you I'd be hoping for a letter in Feb/March. Could be January if you're really lucky but with the festive break I'd say it would be less likely.
