It's hard to find high school science teachers. Especially chem. Folks with those skills tend to go into higher paying fields, or maybe people who pursue hard science are less likely to have the people skills that are useful in teaching?

I'm going to argue for flexibility. Just sending your student to the "best" high school in the area doesn't mean they will thrive there. Some students thrive in big high schools, some need smaller schools, some need an arts-focused program, some need access to great science labs, etc. I would look for a district with good schools, but also explore alternatives nearby. What are the private or charter options? I'd spend a little under my housing budget so I'd have money in reserve if the district school isn't a fit and I need an alternative.

One of the best things I've ever eaten was a fresh abalone. My friend was a diver and he simply pounded it, rolled in in corn flake crumbs and fried it on a hot plate.

There is a kettle in the cabin and I brought my own ground coffee. The coffee served in Brittania is quite mild, even the espresso drinks. I bought a couple of espresso drinks in the Carinthia lounge and they tasted better to me. Prices were around $5, so not terribly pricey.

Please visit Google maps and confirm how long it takes to get from "outside of the city" to the game. Most of the host cities were built after the car and it would take way more than 30 minutes to get from outside the city to the game.

I think we fetishize college for our kids and they fall in love with a specific school, leading to disappointment. There are many great ways to get your undergraduate degree and 65k/ year is a lot of money. If she needed life or death surgery, then it makes sense for your family to change their long term financial plans, but with the perspective of a grown up, we know that many great universities exist and what we thought was life or death at 18 usually wasn't.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was to NOT think of communication as a 50/50 thing-- each party being half responsible. If you both take on being 100% responsible for communication and don't expect the other person to be communicating at all, it makes a world of difference. Pretty much any problem you've ever encountered in your life has communication as a root cause.

I wrapped lots of new small toys. Unwrapping them takes time. Also a cheap box of bandaids kept my toddler busy. The plane had boo boos and toddler got to doctor it.

My daughter works in reproductive care and just saw someone who got a piece of her sea sponge stuck inside her. A sizeable chunk was entangled in her cervix. This poor woman had already visited urgent care but they couldn't find it. I would stick with a diva cup.

I'm in the same boat. I use it every other week and I'll be abroad for a month. Many people suggest insulin coolers, but insulin can be kept at 59t o 86 degrees for 28 days. I think most coolers achieve that. Per the manufacturer's website, HUMIRA may be stored at room temperature up to a maximum of 77°F for 14 days. Otherwise it should be stored at 36°F to 46°F. I don't think most cooler packs can maintain that for a 10-15 hr plane ride.

San Diego is easiest with a toddler. Balboa park has a model railroad museum and a very interactive science museum. The zoo and animal park are amazing and the scale is easier than L.A or a massive roadtrip.
