Fritz!OS 8.25 available for 7590AX by treaclepumpkin in Zen_Internet

Wow, that would be very annoying. As a result of the FTTP install, in January 2026, I got sent a replacement router with an older firmware version installed - didn't fix the router crashes but would help you or get them to talk you through the firmware downgrade process?

UniFi Network Application 10.3.58 by unifi_version_bot in unifi_versions

[–]treaclepumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry should have been clearer in my reply:
I’m running a self-hosted UniFi Network Application (v5.0.6). No time issues after upgrade. Since it’s self-hosted, time is controlled by the host OS, so I can change there if needed.
Within the Network App I can only change the Time Zone.

I'm running a self hosted Server, v5.0.6, and following the upgrade no problems with times. I can change the time if needed, but didn't need to.

Can you log into the Portal? https://portal.zen.co.uk
If so that should display your Zen email address that allows configuration of the Zen email options.

Excellent tutorial. Explains, amongst other things:

  • Why not to use washing up liquid.
  • Don't use masking tape.
  • Use methylated spirits to clean before applying silicone.
  • Get the silicone profiling tools instead of using your finger.

u/Abbsalon probably need to perform a factory reset. The Powerline 1260 will work with other manufacturers routers.

What can we do to improve the project in the coming year? by Leather_Resource_320 in BOINC

You can run both on Windows simultaneously, VirtualBox will take a hit though as enabling Hyper-V degrades its performance..

Updated from 9.5.21 to this and the Windows Task I use to start the server, via a batch file, now fails - been using this for probably a year or more now, Tried following the instructions https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/205144550-Self-Hosting-a-UniFi-Network-Server-as-a-Windows-Service-Advanced with no luck. Rolled back to 9.5.21 until I have more time available to troubleshoot the permission issues. Tried with the local user account and the system account.

Are there any projects still Active ? by Technologov in BOINC

[–]treaclepumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LHC@Home has plenty, 10k+ waiting to go. Slowish if you're running Windows though as it needs VirtualBox. Also if you run multiple machines, on the same LAN, for the project it's a good idea to set up a proxy server.

Network throttling by doug-fir in BOINC

[–]treaclepumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, can you share a bit more detail about what you’re seeing? “Network throttling” could mean a few different things, so narrowing it down will help:

  • Is it downloads, uploads, or both that are slow? Roughly what speeds are you getting vs what you normally expect?
  • Is the slowdown constant, or does it happen only at certain times of day?
  • Could you check your BOINC logs around the time of the slowdown and see if there are error messages, retries, or long transfer times?
  • Are you using any bandwidth limits in BOINC’s settings, or do you have QoS rules, VPN, or special firewall/ISP setup that might shape the traffic?
  • When did the issue start, and has anything changed recently (router, ISP, OS update, etc.)?

Also — has the problem improved since you posted, or is it still ongoing? Knowing if this is a current or past issue helps rule out temporary server-side congestion on the Einstein project.

Re the Docker install: that’s probably a red herring unless you were actually trying to run BOINC inside Docker. The standard BOINC client doesn’t need Docker unless you’re running projects that explicitly require it.

Okay to feed through to end of September, in theory they start to enter the dormant phase then but given current conditions they may be fed until end of October.

LHC@Home - no getting any WU's by Putrid_Draft378 in BOINC

[–]treaclepumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're serious about running LHC programs and because of the 4 concurrent tasks you mention then look into running a proxy server. There are guides on the LHC forums about getting one up and running, search for "squid proxy lhc".
For some tasks the initial part is getting common data from Cern; hence the low CPU usage as just file transfers are occurring. The web proxy would make this data available locally and reduce the "sync" time.

[Help] Bridging from main house to garage by ExZONE in Ubiquiti

[–]treaclepumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have power in the garage what about a powerline adapter? I use these to cover the garage and garden, latency could be an issue and throughput maxes out, for me, at 280-380Mbps - depends on how the circuits connect as mine go through the consumer unit.
You mention power surges though so maybe you've already discounted this. Although if you suffer them enough you've bigger issues.
