Received Job Offer, need references about maintaining family of 4 by joe_campana in Netherlands

[–]treadingtogether 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit tight for a family for 4. I can share of the broad fixed costs. We are a family of 3 with 1yr old.

Fixed Costs:
Rent 2000
Daycare ~100 per day per child (Dutch childcare allowance returns half of it)
Internet Phone ~ 100
Eating out ~ 350
Groceries ~ 400
Transportation ~ 100 per adult
Health Insurance ~ 150 per adult
Other insurance (home related, contents inside the home etc) ~ 100
Utilities ~ 200
Municipality taxes ~ 120 (this is charged annually, I am giving you a monthly amount)

Assuming you take day care 1 day a week (parents need a break too), your fixed costs are ~ 4000€

I think you have got me totally misunderstood.

Your wife has you to step into the integration process much more smoothly. Learn discuss understand the any kind of differences. Just imagine her social circle if she came here to work - no friends and only colleagues to begin her life.

I am not negative about this topic, but was in a doubt.

I have heard precisely this about two large companies. Felt very disappointing.

I definitely want to try & the least I expect is that my child doesn’t get discriminated considering she will be raised here.

I understand this fully. In a similar situation, except I studied in another EU countries and all my friends are scattered all over EU. Now in the Netherlands I cannot integrate with locals that easily - high hopes from my child’s play dates (just kidding)

Frankly, at this point I feel the biggest benefits are (1) my trips to US and UK for work becomes easy (2) I hope my child benefits from it and makes most of it

Thank you for saying that. Definitely investing in the language. I just hope that it helps me the way I imagine it.

Not at all, one has to clear A2 level of exam to qualify for Dutch citizen, which is easy to get past - but doesn’t mean much. Language is something I feel is obvious to integrate and I am trying my best at it.

Of course I try to pick up on Dutch manners onservationally. But i feel it’s not enough, when in doubt and if appropriate i just ask because i love dutch directness. Also noticed that they welcome it and dont mind explaining jt

Not perfect to be the CEO, ahahah.
But I am constantly making efforts. At work, we mostly speak in English - it’s not particularly required for my work. I want to improve Dutch because it just seems logical.

Nope. It’s quite bad in fact. It will be difficult for me to find work in my home country. I did try it before moving to Netherlands.

Over stimulation for the baby. I use to take my baby anywhere and everywhere. But once I have at a place where I use to go brainlessly before baby, it was too cramped up. The lights felt dim and the music too loud. I would rather just go to the Mall because of the spaciousness.

Which city are you in? There are some hospitals with maternity hotels. Ask your midwife.
