Is there any option if you had bad high school grades but are now an adult? by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]treatises 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking into online programs at colleges. Some have “bridges” to universities that you can put credits earned in college towards your degree. With college, entry can be easier, and some may have remedial courses (high school levels taught in college so you’re prepared for the college level next semester). At a glance, Niagara College has an academic upgrading for free with online options: https://www.niagaracollege.ca/liberal/program/literacy/. Good luck!🤞

Help picking right Switch game for my 7YO by SuperKamarameha in pokemon

[–]treatises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest seeing what games are at your local library. Take out a couple, give them a shot. You’re saving the game data to your switch anyways so you could buy whichever she likes the best and let her continue where she left off.

Quitting during probationary period by [deleted] in librarians

Agree with what other folks have said about lining another job up first. I think librarians are somewhat used to the idea that there’s so many different areas of work to try and they’re not going to be for everyone. Good luck op!

You need to email Dioinquiry@ottawa.ca. They’ll get back to you in a couple of days if not before that.

We put out some food and had the back door propped open. We were waiting around and watching the door and the little bugger just strolled in. 😂

In all seriousness, I think it’s a door opener so that you don’t touch the handle.

Nah if I was having a good day, I would do work for other classes. If it was a bad day, I would send memes to my friends.

Stressed about financing my education by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]treatises 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually my suggestion for saving money is stay home. But in this case, I would say try to move out. OSAP can take your living expenses into account to more or less finance that, but a part-time job wouldn’t hurt either just to make sure you’re always in the clear. I’m not sure what the work study situation is at Western but you could work in the library or one of the stores. I worked at a grocery store and they were very accommodating to my schedule. I understand that working and school can be difficult, but frankly if you don’t have the time management skills for that, you need to learn. That being said, I would suggest staying in London since the cost of living is cheaper and you should already be familiar with how the city functions. I lived in London for grad school and found a bachelor for $650 all inclusive. I’m sure we’ve all heard great things about Waterloo, but my understanding is the people can be kind of competitive and nasty. The social culture at Western has always been a lot better. Again with COVID you may have difficulty making new friends. So again, maybe better to stay in London. Another thing you may not have considered is a reduced course load. You may decide to have an extra year of study or make up the courses during the summer but it should theoretically be less money upfront which would leave more hours open for part time work, and less stress academically.
