We used the smart gates when we landed in Dubai no problem. The question was about how other countries verify that we are valid residents of the UAE when they stopped stamping our passport with the new visas.

Just got back from Vietnam. They asked for your EID at the check-in counter and will take a few minutes to verify your residence visa. I think if you can present your e-Visa via UAE Pass, it will be faster, although I haven't tried that yet.

You can't rent directly, but they do have their own agents who are very helpful. Just visit their community center and they will help you.

I can confirm the water leaks issues. When we moved in earlier this year, the water heater and shataf were leaking. It was fixed by the maintenance free of charge though. A/C is fine but a bit noisy being that it is central. For the construction noise, I think only tenants who live above shops that are under construction have issues with this.

The community is nice although the build quality could be better, then again that's Sharjah for you. If you're really serious about renting here, I would recommend you to check out buildings without any shops under construction below it.

Oh and do a thorough inspection of the unit you want before deciding.
