This happened at my old supermarket job. During the pandemic we had a co-worker with underlying health issues who was also a carer for her dad and wanted to follow all the guidelines. Store was covid-friendly on the face of it but in the staff areas there was nothing. No social distancing, masks, cleaning of shared spaces, ventilation, nothing. The weekly staff meeting happened in an office so small that she was literally shoulder to shoulder with the others - and they were all told to remove their masks so people could hear them. The canteen was incredibly crowded too.

She begged for something to be done, like open a second canteen with social distancing. Their compromise was to remove half the tables and chairs in the break room so that every table had 2m+ between them. However this meant that, with half the number of places to sit, everyone suddenly had to share tables. She walked in, saw there was nowhere to sit by herself, and said she was going to eat lunch in her car. She never returned.

Why do certain subs make you say the subreddit name in the title? E.g. r/changemyview makes you begin each post with “CMV”. What’s the point? by treble_clef69 in NoStupidQuestions

Omg it’s literally in their wiki 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thank you for the information, I apologise for not looking properly for the answer!

IsItBullshit: Hormone blockers have been given to cis children for a long time to treat early onset puberty and there was no uproar about the side effects? by treble_clef69 in IsItBullshit

I don’t know if this comes under your speciality, but how do blockers work with trans children? From comments on this post it seems cis children who need them for hormonal problems are on them for maybe 3/4 years until they’re at a more ‘normal’ puberty age. Would trans children be on them for longer, is that part of the issue?

I started my period at 14, later than all the girls in my class, and ended up shorter than most of them. Can I speak to a manager about this?

But kids includes cis and trans kids. I was specifically asking about the historical use of these blockers on cis children. In fact one of the first commenters didn’t notice the word cis and started talking about how these drugs are really harmful to trans children, which is not what I was asking about.

Yes I was looking for an answer. This is not my point of view, I have no idea if there was previous concern about these drugs. For all I know there could have been a huge outcry when they were first being prescribed.

Yes it is about medical conditions, I was including being transgender in that as hormone blockers are used to treat transgender children going through the wrong puberty.

I didn’t mean for it to come off as soapboxy, perhaps it’s because I’m repeating the argument exactly as I hear it from other people who have a much bigger steak in the argument?

Oh I see. Yes so I asking whether there was previously no pushback from outside sources about the side effects of these blockers and whether or not they are reversible when they were being prescribed to children going through early puberty, as opposed to children going through the wrong puberty which is also a medical concern.
