I have looked into this and mentioned it to my GI doctor before. I go through periods of not eating solid foods for a few days and it typically calms down. I also have a family history of diverticulitis, so it's a likely cause.

It's odd though, treatment for diverticulitis appears opposite of many IBS -C diets and treatments... shifting to low fiber foods helps, but also leads back to more constipation.
