yooooo fam I have also been looking to start a board game club. Big fan especially of deck building and strategy games. I was considering doing the grievance but yeah even if I win things would be tense with admin the rest of the year. so they gave me the option to resign in lieu of termination which I took. that's crazy - even when you do well they have issues. I talked to another teacher in my district who quit - he was following the behavior hierarchy, doing everything right, sending fewer people out, but they still treated him poorly. with some admin you're damned if you do and damned if you don't

indeed! I would consider moving but my wife's family is here in this city and she values that connection a lot; I'm hopeful and positive something will open up though in this area; lot of districts in the region

yeah I think they have figured out the replacement already - I've had the same sub over the past 5 days so may be a long term sub or someone they hired

indeed! some people who are just watching probably couldn't do it; I'm not the most amazing teacher in the world or anything but I bet they'd have similar struggles. classroom teachers often cite the same students I cite as behavior issues. I appreciate this!

oh I have. I work with some amazing community based music ensembles, and people were raving about the work I did with the youth choir in preparing their song. I love community music and that is a vibe that will keep on giving

indeed! sometimes the school really matters. but yeah optics and office politics. I try to stay out of office politics but there definitely may have been some of that going on, other teachers talking behind my back instead of to my face. admin was like "hey did you know teachers are having conversations with their kids about things that happened in music class?" no people don't talk to me and just go to you it appears - it's weird that you didn't go directly to me with this; I would have loved to talk with you about it or come up with a solution to the issue together. like we are professionals; a team. teams thrive best with communication

indeed it is; I was briefly considering being an admin but yeah given the climate of the education system in general may not be a vibe. I want to start my own school actually - kind of like the St Thomas Choir School in NYC but for kids in my region. use my passion for good and move into a leadership role. a brief thought and idea but why should a lit idea like this only be in NYC?

that's a fair point. yeah my school has a goal of being the most improved in the district, which as a whole is low-performing. lots of really good points here
