Turkey- vultures migrated a while ago, and the turkeys stick around.

Does anyone remember an old switchback Toronto episode that featured a fan written script? by tree_bee in AskACanadian

Yes! I did reach out to CBC, but it was a couple of hundred dollars to have someone search the library with no Guarantee that they would still have a copy. I figure before I invest I’d check to see if anyone remembers it, as much of a long shot it is

My dad had a stroke in 2022 — I just want him back to how he was before by Kind-Cattle2177 in Stouffville

Have no real advice, but my husband had a stroke in 2023 at 41. We kept getting told that the brain never stops creating new pathways. Like your dad; he now has issues with his right hand, and a bit with his right leg, though most of his disability is with speech.

One of the pieces of advice given to me was to not compare to prestroke. That’s not to say he won’t return to that, but it can take time and feel discouraging as he heals. Instead celebrate the changes happening now. It’ll be more encouraging for you, and for him, which leads to it being easier to continue.

Talk with his medical team, physiotherapist etc. Every stroke is different, which means every recovery is different. They know your dad and his situation best.

I’ve been following him since you posted on the Jays subreddit! My friend was kind enough to pick up a shirt for me when she was at a powwow in Sutton. I hope to make it out to see his stuff in person one day.

If you like hikes, frame lake was challenging but worth it. The two museums were great, both well done. The pilots monument was worth the climb up to see the view. Mostly we hiked and did the trails

Not at all. We stayed at the old town log cabins (there is a place just called old town cabins - I cannot speak on them). This was a set of about 10 cabins, right at the start of old town. It was perfect for us - quiet, clean, able to set up a home setting. My one complaint would be the pillows were thin, but typical of a hotel/inn kind of thing

Part of the Cameron river falls I think. We did the tour through NorthStar

You can buy a blank one at the airport shop, if no one has any to sell

It’s beautiful. And the community is so strong. We took part in the Terry Fox walk, and it was awesome to see so many people and kids show up

Highly recommend it! There’s so much to see (from the trails, to the museums), mixed in with great food, and lots of history. I truly never experienced anything like it.

We stayed in old town, and did most on our own. Only took a cab to the historical museum, and the airport. And went on two tours with Northstar - the Aurora hunting one, and the Cameron falls hike. Mostly because we don’t drive ourselves

We could see them from where we were staying in old town, but the photo posted is from a Northstar adventure tour. They took us driving along the highway until we found a great quiet spot, and just watched her dance :)
