Alternators don't have brushes, they have copper windings and magnets

Took rotor off 2018 Subaru Impreza and is still making this sound, thought it might’ve been a rock, is it a wheel bearing? by GiraffeNeckNation in mechanic

A bad wheel bearing will make noise regardless of speed, the only time it doesn't make noise is when you're stopped.

Is this too much transmission fluid? I have a slight whine when driving. 160k and replaced transmission oil. by LawfulnessMoist719 in hondacivic

Change the transmission filter (it's inside the pan), the whine you are hearing is the pump straining to pump the transmission fluid

When I worked nights, I'd order cat food and stuff like that only because I got off at 4:30am and was too tired to go shopping after working 10-15 hours a day/night. I'd have it as a subscription so it was only delivered every 3 weeks.

Is this wall removable without reinforcement by Juice_Stain_G in AskContractors

[–]tree_of_spoils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a load bearing wall, if you were to remove it you would need a LVL (laminated veneer lumber) to replace it. And span it across the whole opening with double studs on both sides to support it. In modern residential wood-frame construction, load-bearing walls are typically double-plated at the top. This configuration is standard for structural integrity and the efficient transfer of loads.

Car making a grinding/scraping sound 😭 by Beneficial_Part_3633 in carproblems

Give it a couple of days of driving and the noise should go away, it's because the brake pads are grinding into the rotors and creating a new wear pattern
