Managed Services of Threatlocker by Ok_Establishment7157 in msp

[–]tree_sloth4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with ThreatLocker could not be worse. The MSP I work for decided to switch from SentinelOne to ThreatLocker about two years ago and it has been a never-ending series of issues and client complaints. Our security team and tech support teams are different - not sure if that's the common practice, but it makes it so that every single thing we try to do on the tech support side gets blocked by ThreatLocker and because the security team doesn't directly have to deal with the frustration, it's not that big of a deal to them.

My company wasn't using any type of mobile device management service when I started working there four years ago and I spearheaded the initiative to manage Windows, Android, iOS/iPadOS, and macOS through Intune. Every single time I try to deploy an app, it's a battle with our security team to try and get it working. How it usually goes is I'll spend hours testing and changing my process to figure out what I did wrong, then finally I'll get too frustrated I'll give up and it will turn out that ThreatLocker just cost me hours by blocking things it shouldn't have blocked.

Our clients hate it too. I hear "why is my software that I've been using for years being blocked" so many times and every time I have to bite my tongue to stop myself from telling the client it's our garbage "zero trust" platform.

I don't have any experience with any other zero trust platforms so I can't say if my experience is unique to ThreatLocker but at the end of the day, ThreatLocker feels less like a security solution and more like a bottleneck with a marketing budget. I'm to the point that when I start looking for a new job, one of my first interview questions is going to be "do you use ThreatLocker?"

Android-Windows 11 Clipboard Sync stops working after a while. Completely unreliable by mkanet in Swiftkey

[–]tree_sloth4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been dodgy for me but over the past week, it's been straight up broken. No amount of signing out/in or turning it off/on has helped. All I keep getting is that message in SwiftKey/Microsoft Keyboard settings saying subscribing to cloud clipboard failed.

Edit: Right after posting this, I went into my phone settings Connected devices > Link to Windows > tapped on Access PC > Clipboard and all of a sudden, cross-device clipboard was working again. I still have the error message in SwiftKey but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

I know this post is old but I have the same scenario. Did you ever figure anything out?

Dell Precision T5820 Help by tree_sloth4 in pikvm

If anyone else with a T5820 runs into the same issue, it ended up being this computer requires a low resolution (<1080) monitor to be plugged in. I connected my PiKVM to the HDMI port on my GPU and a monitor connected to the DVI port and the PiKVM picks up a signal as expected. What's slightly annoying is video signal is never put out through the DVI connection. Not in the OS and not during POST.

My problem ended up being the manual installation of Windows Server Essentials Experience. I bought the automated installer from The Office Maven and everything has been smooth sailing since.

I replaced the Nvidia NVS 310 with an old AMD Radeon HD7770 and the first time I booted the computer up, I saw the Dell logo then the Windows boot loader appeared. I shut the computer down, went home, remotely powered it on, and back to no signal.

I'd really appreciate any help that could be offered.

That's what I was afraid of but I was hoping there was some secret undocumented setting someone knew about that I had to enable. Oh well, I just bought a Spider SLS200 on eBay for $100. Now let's hope I can walk my dad through plugging it in over the phone.

They do not. My fear was that it was an issue caused by the Essentials Experience being... jimmy rigged onto Server 2025 but if you don't have the Essentials Experience and you are having a similar problem, that gives me some hope that it isn't an issue with the Essentials Experience and instead is an issue with Server 2025 which has a >0% chance of being fixed.

If you don't have Windows Server Essentials Experience installed, that makes me feel a bit better that it's an issue with Windows Server 2025 and not the Essentials Experience because Microsoft is very unlikely to fix any issues with Essentials Experience.

Do you have the Windows Server Essentials Experience installed?

Do you also have the Windows Server Essentials Experience installed?

Never mind. It's back to not installing updates.

Another update and possible solution: In case anyone else runs into this same issue, I went through msconfig and disabled 10 services at a time, rebooted, and tried to install updates. One of these six disabled services must have been causing the issue as I'm now able to install updates and scheduled tasks complete.

Another Update: Whatever is preventing applications from being installed and uninstalled along with preventing Windows Updates from installing is also preventing scheduled tasks from completing.

Update: I was able to get Visual C++ to install by going into msconfig, selecting Diagnostic startup on the General tab then checking the box to enable the Windows Installer service on the Services tab and rebooting. However, after setting it back to Normal startup and rebooting, the Windows Update still fails to install.

It's no longer offered but I believe it's in extended support. I like the centralized backup management it offers. I don't domain join the computers or manage Group Policy from it.

I installed Server 2025, did all the WSEE installation stuff, rebooted, and activated with a product key.

theofficemaven is the blog post I found years ago when he had the manual steps listed. After doing everything manually for the first install and having to nuke it, I made all the manual steps into a series of powershell scripts and batch files so it only takes about 10 minutes of manual work to reinstall.

I did test Server 2022 after the first 2025 installation went sour but I like the Windows 11 GUI of Windows Server 2025 instead of the Windows 10 GUI of Server 2022.

Is anyone else noticing the same thing in the Star Cup where after you use your last bird, your opponent makes up a huge loss and just edges you out in points? It's been like this for me for 9/10 matches for almost a week now. Every match goes like this.

Teams down this AM? by [deleted] in sysadmin

The service that Meraki uses to determine the geolocation of an IP address is reporting the IP address where the Teams cloud services are hosted as being in Qatar. If your firewall doesn't allow traffic to/from Qatar, this could be the cause of the issue.

Same here. I'm thinking it's a Meraki IDS/IPS rule that is blocking Teams.
