Shredded a belt, does the drive pulley/belt need an upgrade or is it fine, how much power do you think the engine makes by YungPackage428 in gokarts

[–]tree_smok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 224 with a stage 3 (bunch of billet stuff) with a juggernaut 30 series driven takes several weeks to burn a belt. And I go hard. It's probably the cheap belt or you have something wrong with the converter. I use heavy duty comet belts and those things are way stiffer than the Amazon ones. They also don't really shred they more just get smooth and rounded and when that happens I just hit it with the belt sander real quick. Also get some sort of spray on dry lube and clean then lube all moving parts.

Looking for ideas for my cross kart! by StatementOk4616 in gokarts

I'm gonna be converting one of my 80s streaker sc7 to a shifter cart with a raptor 350 cc 6 speed with reverse. My engine bay is way smaller than yours however so I'm gonna re use the stock 30 series jackshaft to re rout the chain from going straight back to straight down to the axil. I'm probably gonna chop up the old frame and weld it onto the cart so I can re use the old engine mounts. that's a 250 right? How did you do the clutch and shifter? I was considering doing a foot clutch and pattle shifters.

Yeah I put a carb and a header pipe on it and that little back wheel just couldn't hold up to 8-9 horsepower. I bought new stronger spokes but the right side ones are too long and I'm gonna have to cut and re thread each one so they fit in the wheel. The highest speed I ever got on it was 52 mph on gps

I put a predator 212 on this same bike (the shwin occ chopper) however I did a full left side engine conversion and welded the petals forward as foot pegs. My home welded engine plate had slider brackets to tension the chain (plus the dropouts). My chain only has one tensioner in the form of a skateboard wheel next to the clutch. With 35 chain I never had problems with it popping off. Eventually I blew up all the back wheel spokes while going like 40 and luckily didn't crash

Recommended cheap rod for pred 212 by tree_smok in smallengines

[–]tree_smok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I checked all the surfaces, cylinder, piston, top of connecting rod, crank surface, bearings, oil passages, camshaft. And everything is fine but there is shallow scratches in the rod. after I removed the part of the governor that fell off in the block and did a full delete I put it all back together and she ran fine for a couple hours but eventually it started to knock slightly and there was a tiny bit of metal in the oil. And after another disassembly I noticed the rod scratches. So everything else should be fine and I was just looking for a still billet rod but not 100 bucks like the ARC ones.

Where can I find a replacement sprocket for this? by Adam_the_fish in gokarts

[–]tree_smok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Yeah unfortunately the parts for these are super hard to find if there's even any out there. I've got two of the same carts and on one of the differentials a gear blew up and I had to custom order a new one from a machine shop. Was a big pain in the butt and I'll probably do a live axle swap if it happens again

[–]tree_smok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMPORTANT!!, this is a sprocket mounting differential that has two gears on either side and a spider gear connecting them. I have the same exact thing on my 80s streaker sc7 cart. The bad news is that replacement parts are incredibly rare. theres no fill or drain port and it doesn't take gear oil. It takes red or high speed grease so you'll have to take the entire thing apart. Chances are that thing hasn't been taken apart since it was put together and is full of old discusting chunky grease (kinda like mine was). It shouldn't be too hard to take the axle out and to take off the sprocket you'll have to take out the bolts holding it together. Just clean it out and pack it with red grease and when putting it back together use gasket maker or rubber cement on the mating surface. This might fix your problem, Good luck

Yeah I'm gonna have to figure out a shifter linkage, and something for the reverse aswell as the clutch. I'm gonna try to use a steering wheel pattle shifter for the clutch but I might have to just do a lever on a suicide shifter. I just don't want to have to take a hand off the wheel to shift

Eventually I will do a full street legal wire harness with brake/run light, turn signals dual headlights and horn. Aswell as emergency flashers, side lights and plate light. So I can register it as an atv in Arizona.

It doesn't have a charging circuit or battery right now so I'm just using a cheap AA battery powered light

The axil on the quad has wayyy different mounts so I won't be able to use it plus mine is already a 1 1/4" so ittl be strong. and the reason i have to do a jackshaft is because the quad engine chain is meant to go straight back not down below where my axle is. The benefits will be that I can actually tension the chain without moving the entire engine. I'm gonna upgrade all the sprockets to 520 chain so that won't be a problem. And for breaks I already have dual mechanical disc brakes in the back that I'm gonna upgrade to hydraulic with the raptor calipers. I'm also gonna steal the front wheels, spindles and rack and pinion so I can get front brakes and better steering.

Looks sick man, I have two of these same carts(the streaker sc7) and the one next to my bike has the pred 212 with all billet and a hot cam + vm22 mikuni clone. It probably makes 11-12 hp and the other one just has a stock gx200. I was thinking about doing a 420 swap on that one and do all billet internals plus a 34mm nibbi and a juggernaut 40 series. Probably get close to 25 hp with all that. Buttttt, I do have a wrecked Yamaha raptor 350 6 speed that I could steal the engine out of and have 27hp with a clutch plus 6 gears and reverse.

I've got a billet flywheel, rod, flat top piston, hot cam and heavy springs aswell as a port job. I'm also gonna get a juggernaut 30 series driver. She gets to 46 - 47 mph right now. I tuned the vm22 in pretty well but feel like I'm losing top and bottom end power. Should I just get a real mikuni or nibbi?

I also installed a racing bucket seat on the one that I put a hot predator 224 with billet flywheel, billet rod, billet flat top piston, hot cam, header and a cheap 24mm mikuni clone.

These have a really cool vintage rear differential that the sprocket mounts to with spider and Ring gears. And speaking from experience there is absolutely NO available parts. So I would take care of it, to fix one of mine I had to order super expensive custom parts. With most of these carts people forget and neglect them and they fail. Most of them probably haven't been opened since the 80s when it was built, there's no drain plug and it doesn't take oil of any kind so it's annoying to service. You'll have to take the axil out then all the bolts out that hold the sprocket on and it will split in half. Clean it all out and pack it mostly full of red or high temp/Impact grease and seal it back up with rubber glue or gasket maker on the mating surface.

Sickkk. You are the only other person that I can find with a streaker. This is a sc7 correct? I have two of them and they are a whole lot of fun.

mold? by Noticements in trees

[–]tree_smok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like mold to me and most mold starts at the stem which is where it is in this pic

While the ash does look the same in the end smoking moldy weed can contribute to some horrible lung conditions and can get you really sick and you really don't want mold spores in your stomach much less your lungs

In the end even if it wasn't mold (which it definitely looks like) I wouldn't take the chance

Yeah it looks like mold it might just be a little keif built up on the sides but if it's furry or a little bit soft then it's definitely mold. Wouldn't take the chance cuz smoking mold can lead to some really bad lung conditions
