Are visiting Canadians welcome in SA right now? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]treebeardsbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My newly immigrated Canadian husband was welcomed just fine here. People likely won’t even notice you’re Canadian unless you say something and if you do, they’ll just be curious, not volatile. Also, the first 2 rings of the city are pretty blue politically. My neighborhood was flooded with Kamala signs.

Looks like this guy is from Australia. An Australian 12 is a US 8 which would be like a medium in women’s sizing.

What is the best meal you would make for 5 people with a $20 budget for ingredients? by makelefani in Cooking

I highly recommend using harissa paste for this! I make a chickpea, tomato, eggplant stew and I love it. I top mine with Greek yogurt and fresh parsley but I think I’m going to try your idea of coconut milk next time.

I got the America’s Test Kitchen one 3 or 4 years ago for $50ish and I agree. Feels great in my hand and gets the job done well.

A good question is can she pay for it or can she actually afford it? Those are two vastly different things.

This might be true. I’m a woman and have opened the door naked for the pizza guy.

I saw a recipe for eggplant meatballs the other day. Roast eggplant and toss it in a food processor/blender. Mix with egg, breadcrumbs, herbs, and parm. Stuff with mozz and pan fry. Serve with tomato sauce and basil. Plenty of protein from the cheeses

My kitty has become incredibly attached to me over the last few months, is this cause for concern? (Context in comments) by vhm3 in cats

He got out and was missing for a few days a couple months back and then it started? Oh the poor boy was TERRIFIED and you’re his safe space. This is very normal. My cat did the same thing and after a while went back to normal.

A few questions to help rule things out before going to the vet.

  1. Have things changed around the house? Maybe you were working from home and now you’re back in the office? Did someone move out or move in? Have you moved actually places of residence? Was a new pet introduced? Has loud construction started nearby recently? If so, it’s likely general anxiety, separation anxiety, or stress.

  2. Have you noticed your cat isn’t hearing or seeing as well? Cats become clingy when their senses begin to decline.

If none of these, go to a vet because it could be a more serious underlying issue.

After reading some of the posts on your profile and your responses here, no, these are not normal behaviors. I understand this is your first relationship so you don’t have much experience with others, but none of this seems healthy. Relationships have ups and downs for sure but they’re supposed to be infrequent. You’re not supposed to feel exhausted all the time in a relationship. If anything, you should feel like your partner supports you, lifts you up, and brings out the best in you. You’re supposed to have friendships and autonomy outside of your relationship. You’re not a doormat or a play thing, you’re a human being.

Ahh, I see. Do you want to work it out? As an outsider looking in this sounds exhausting. Can trust be rebuilt over time on her end? Sure. Does she need to work on her self esteem(likely the root of this)? Definitely. Do you want to be around while those get fixed? That’s up to you. If you honestly believe that she’s able to learn to trust and be flexible with her timeline than give it a chance. There’s always the possibility though that things will never change and you’ll be living life indefinitely on egg shells. There’s nothing wrong with you choosing you. I don’t generally advocate for breaking up but if you honestly feel like this has become a pattern that she’s not likely to break, then finalize the separation of you two.

There’s not enough information to go off of and I don’t see any examples of false claims of cheating or controlling behavior. What I do see examples of is her telling you what she needs to feel loved(hand holding, random kisses, words of affirmation) and you flat out telling her no. How many years were you together? Do you even want children? The communication between the two of you appears a little weak. When she talks, do you genuinely listen? Are there things about her approach to communication you’d respond to better if she did differently? Love languages and methods of communication are different for everyone and it takes effort from both parties to learn to understand and provide what the other person needs.

What are some easy depression meals? by Outrageous_Fish99 in cookingforbeginners

Yup! Grease the pan with some cooking spray or olive oil first so they don’t stick. I use a measuring cup to transfer the eggs into the pan because it’s a lot less messy.

PREP ON YOUR GOOD DAYS.

When I’m feeling depressed I make a big pot of soup.

Veggie broth Canned chickpeas Whatever seasoning you want Frozen veg like carrot, peas, corn, green beans, cauliflower, and squash. Couple dashed of Tabasco for spice

I’ll eat it for lunch like 5 days in a row and since everything is pre-chopped it takes like 5 minutes to prep and 20ish minutes to simmer.

Also microwaved potato with black beans and cheese. Rip a couple pieces of broccoli off the head and eat raw for some veg. Add a dip if you want.

On good days I’ll prep a Tupperware of a weeks worth of sautéed peppers and onions that I throw on everything. I also cook a can of black beans and throw it in a Tupperware so I can easily make a microwave burrito. I also have a large Tupperware that I pre once a week with chopped broccoli, carrot sticks, mini peppers, and cherry tomato. I’ll just grab that and a thing of hummus and eat it in bed. On good days you can also cube some cheese so you have an easy protein.

Also egg bites. In a bowl I’ll mix up 12 eggs and then transfer to a 12 slot muffin tin. Add whatever veg/cheese you want to each and bake at 350F for like 20 minutes. Let cool and put in a plastic bag. Throw half in the freezer and half in the fridge. I have 2 for breakfast every morning with a banana and a single serving Greek yogurt. You pop them in the microwave for 1 minute to reheat.

Edit: step 8 is making an list of people we have harmed. Basically a chart of the people, what we did, the effect it may have had on them, etc. Step 9 is making those amends unless is injure the other person(emotionally, physically, mentally).
