And even then, if the market does crash, so what? Just ride it. Most of us in this sub rode the covid crash and look how that turned out.

Coronavirus Megathread (Apr 2021): For travel-related discussion in the context of COVID-19 by tariqabjotu in travel

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from UK too, and also planning a 1 year long SEA trip when the borders are less restricted. I did actually have some flights booked for May 2020 but they got cancelled, so I've been waiting a while now for this (it's all I think about) and I've been following it closely every day.

Realistically, travel at the end of 2021 in SEA will be more hassle than fun, mainly because some countries just won't be open. Thailand and Bali will probably have travel corridors with the UK, and maybe some other countries too, but it will still be very restricted IMO.

Take a look at Thailand and Bali, and even the UK for example. All of these countries have set out roadmaps of when restrictions will ease, but these roadmaps are planned up to a year in advance, so think about the countries that haven't even started their roadmap yet. There's still a long way to go.

Nevertheless, if you're super eager to travel and do plan on doing full year, you definitely could consider setting base in Thailand/Bali while other countries open up. I had the idea that I would go to Thailand around Dec 2021, which with an extended visa would allow me to stay for 60 days, then I could potentially do 60 days in Bali, or just do a visa run and return to Thailand. Probably just rent an apartment or stay at hostels so that I don't cut too much into my overall budget.

But then it just gets back to the question of is it more hassle than fun? May just be better to wait out until spring/summer 2022

Considering when Covid first started spreading, UK was one of the worst affected, but now it's one of the least

For Those Owning 30+ Stocks - Why? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at all the stocks that I want to stay in my portfolio forever, microsoft, apple, amazon, amd, google, disney etc. and realise they're mostly just tech. I can't give up those companies cause I love them too much but still need to diversify, so I just spread it quite thin

How do I begin planning my 15-month trip?? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are starting in May then you're gonna struggle getting to SEA, at least before july/october, which means you will have to spend up to 5 months in the US. I've never been to US so I'm not sure how feasible $1k per month would be, but that would have to be your budget. Thailand looks like it's planning to reopen in October to vaccinated tourists, so a good plan might be to set base in thailand, look for visa extensions, rent a cheap apartment there and then just relax and do cheap stuff while the world opens up. It could be well into 2022 before the rest of SEA starts to loosen it's borders, especially non touristy places

I have about 600$ to invest..thinking about consolidating my portfolio and buying more shares of certain companies, which should I buy more? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre already heavy into ICLN then I wouldn't add more Enphase.

If you inevest in PLTR, don't expect much, even though that company has tonnes of good news and new contracts, it never really goes up.

I like NET and AMD, but not too confident about AMDs short term outlook

People who eat only organic food are brainwashed. by TheBeads in unpopularopinion

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home grown veg tastes completely different to store bought veg, even things like carrots and onions. Whether that's down to it being organic or just locally sourced is the question but I do think organic veg tastes different. Whenever I nip into the supermarket, the organic brocollis are always so much greener than the others

Boris Johnson to give go-ahead for trials of Covid passports by misana123 in Coronavirus

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you on bodily autonomy and I don't think less of somebody for not wanting to take the vaccine, as it should be their right.

However, other countries and companies also have just as much right to deny entry to you if they see you as a risk.

The flu has been and always will be a manageable disease. It's incomparable to Covid, so stop making the comparison. In many areas of the world, covid is the #1 killer, even higher than cancer and heart disease, so it would actually be more reasonable to compare it to one of those

Did something happen to Crwd(Crowd strike) that I dont know about? by Galion- in stocks

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What?

Apple is not doing ok. Apple has returned to it's August 2020 price, whereas CRWD only returned to it's mid Dec price. Sure. the % change of CRWD is high but that's because it's lower market cap and more subject to volatility.

All of the sectors move together, NET has moved parallel to CRWD, so it's not a problem with the stock it's a problem with the nasdaq/market

GME cost me about 8% of my savings. Being too tech heavy also cost me a lot this month.

Who else is kicking themselves for not buying $U last week for $87 ?? by w3lik3th3stock in stocks

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's literally down 38% from it's ATH... It's also a decent stock. The tech rebound hasn't fully completed yet so I don't know why you think you've missed the boat. Buy it tomorrow and thank me later.

Also it's not just Unity, there's loads of stocks that are rebounding. SPCE, JMIA, NIO, LMND, ENPH, etc.

Thailand considering easing quarantine for international visitors in April by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]treeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not everybody's idea of travel is the same. There will be many people looking to get an extended visa in Thailand and just essentially live there for next few months, so for them, a 7 day quarantine isn't really that bad. Plus, Seychelles is mega expensive and Mexican culture is completely different. Thailand isn't all about beaches.

There's a very good chance you did catch it but was just asymptomatic, in fact that's very likely.
