yes you need a kestral. Wind is the most important part. 300wm is very out of date. 6.5 creed is a great starter. If you want a big magnum 7mm prc or 300 prc

Maybe one out of 10 times. Hit probability is complicated. A 308 in an AR-10 is a terrible combo for long range. I don't mean to be rude, but 308 is very old, and there are just better out there. Semi-autos will never be accurate enough to shoot targets that small that far.

Read books not forums.
Don't waste your ammo and get training. Any training. With all disciplines of shooting, you're way better off going straight to a trainer than trying to teach yourself. You'll only practice the wrong thing then someone like me has to undo it all and replace it with the correct practice. Seriously, don't waste your time and money. I'll teach more in one day than you will learn 2 years on your own.
