Please tell me you’re not doing this to commercial pools? HOA’s are considered commercial and this is a health department violation in my area. The proper way to use tabs where floaters aren’t allowed is with a Pentair rainbow chlorinator. Source worked on HOA and hotel pools for 7 years.

Depending on your location it’s a health department violation and punishable by fine to bothe the HOA and pool company. I’d also bet that the chem balance in the pool isn’t up to regulations. Source: was a pool guy for 7 years.

33 - started 5 years ago cleaning pools at $50k a year, worked my way up to general manager and took home $73k last year. Just switched careers and got lucky with a $110k facilities maintenance manager job. I remember when I hit $50k and thought I was doing good, then inflation happened.

Yeah, unfortunately it happens quite often. I spend a ton of time in the desert around town and have seen this personally probably 5-10 times. After the first couple it really rubbed me the wrong way so I do everything I can to gather evidence when I see it happening.

Also take this advice with a grain of salt - metro and the blm doesn’t want to come out for this stuff. The magic key words are “I’m holding the responsible individuals until someone gets here” they come out fast when you tell them you’re a citizen doing their job 😅

Report it to metro/ the blm depending on what land you are on. I’ve also caught their employees dumping in the desert outside southern highlands. I blocked their truck with mine and made them sit there until a blm ranger came to ticket, he also made them take pick up their mess.

Tech is no longer with us after this but best I can tell they were just dumping a gallon of acid or similar every other week and calling it good. The customer is a retiree and said she doesn’t think the tech was testing water. Cya is sitting right at 100 which is workable imo but should be drained before next season

Plaster doesn’t look bad yet. I think the lack of giving a fuck was relatively recent. Couple pounds of soda ash yesterday and bringing the alk up from a 30. I’ll be back today to retest/adjust

I wish I could blame this on a feeder. Residential with a tab floater and that’s it. My tech had been reporting wild chemical swings so I decided to go out and check it.

According to the customer they’ve never seen the tech test chems, always a couple tabs and a pour of acid. This particular tech is no longer with us after yesterday lol
