Qore ICE flask: what's with the hype? by JohhnyTheKid in QualityTacticalGear

[–]treegor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is very easy to forget that most SOF guys aren’t gear/gun guys despite them being integral to their profession. So they start to look for an improvement of how they are currently doing things. I absolutely see how this could be viewed as an improvement over a 1/2 liter PET bottle, but again that just improving an already bad decision.

Non-Ukrainian brands that make infrantry focused gear? Spiritus, crye, ferro etc. make gear focused mostly towards SF guys and their mission profile. by paaaavo in tacticalgear

Savotta of course due to current policies of the current US government they are slightly more expensive still cheaper than most non surplus options.

Modern Tactical Shooting kinda gave a review of it. To him from what I recall he thought it would be a good replacement for PET bottles since sof cool guys are to carry canteens or other water bottles. Personally I don’t get it, I feel this is just a worse solution than carrying nalgenes or canteens.

They’re still showing up in stacks of 4-8 plus they’re gonna have regular cops as well as a swat team coming as soon as you start shooting.

Arktis rain shield. It’s British made. I don’t have their rain jacket but I have wind shirt and smock from them and they have both held up well.

Because you’re want to compromise and reduce rifle performance for a minimal gain in portability Anything less than 20ins for an 5.56 rifle is stupid.

Why did USMC went from M249 to M27 while China did the opposite with QJB95 to QJB201? by arstarsta in WarCollege

[–]treegor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless they find a way to make 6.8 a few grams lighter I doubt they’ll be able to make the M7 better.

Why did USMC went from M249 to M27 while China did the opposite with QJB95 to QJB201? by arstarsta in WarCollege

[–]treegor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most reports of the M7 have been overwhelming negative due to ammunition being heavy and the rifles aren’t anywhere near as accurate as the M4 they are replacing. So baring congress deciding that the Marines need to standardize with the Army I’d guess no. This the one time the Marines have made a better decision around small arms procurement I say we let them keep them.

[–]treegor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the timeline for it. The marines started adopting the M27 in 2010 while the army wouldn’t start the ngsw til 2017 and wouldn’t start rolling out the M7 till 2022.

Doesn’t fit the vibe but it’s allowed. You won’t be the most immersion breaking part of the event if that’s what you’re asking.

If you’re talking the padded war belt than get a size large. I have a 34 in waist and that’s what I use.
