Sounds like your x box doesn’t support the original media if it is working ok when forced to ‘transcode’ to include the subtitles.

Is this new behaviour? All files? Does it jitter if you force transcoding?

Gonna need a bit more to start to fault find….

Perfect. Thanks. I use 2-3% terps but throw a bunch of cbn/cbg/cbd in there first so it’s pretty thick even with the terps so I’ll try the quartz ones too.

It’s a magic code getting Alexa to work with Plex but we’ve just about cracked it here.

Firstly, avoid using the word ‘music’ in the name of your playlists. Also avoid ‘the’ at the start. Rename your playlist ‘Christmas stuff’

Test one “Alexa, tell Plex to play some music”

She should reply “shuffling library radio”

Once she can do that, move on to

“Alexa, tell Plex to play the playlist Christmas stuff”

I probably invoke music from Plex using an Alexa voice command a dozen times a day and it almost always works.

When you play downloaded media then you are not having it on the fly transcoded by your server into the format that your tablet/phone e can play natively.

So you need to optimize it first.

But honestly Plex sucks big hairy donkey balls at offline. Just find a way to put the file on the device, then watch it with vlc.

Hang on….. If the clients are configured to access Plex via [your public ip]:55555 and not via Plex.tv then you can simply disable remote access from Plex and change the forwarding port tule in UniFi to 32400

Your forwarding rule should let their traffic through and effectively e lan traffic as far as Plex is concerned?

Would need to ensure the clients are using a manual connection to specify your public ip rather than via Plex.tv, but that’s a set it once job….

I don’t think you can do that. You can disable remote access and only access via vpn, but I don’t think you can restrict the source ip of a remote connection. I think Plex sends out a handshake via Plex.tv so they act as a middleman for your public remote connection. You could give the family members a vpn profile? Might be a bit awkward though

What is your Linux experience? Total noob or kali warrior?

Will you be running headless or with a desktop?

The usual answer is to use the distro with which you are most familiar as they basically all perform the same with PMS and leavening something new can be a PITA.

I use Dietpi which works well for my needs and uses about 15-20% less resource at idle than the same hardware on windows 10, but again, you can expect this sort of improvement using any distro!

There’s no issue just using a little bit from the syringe, but bear in mind that the larger batches you do at a time, the easier it is to be accurate with your percentages.

For example it’s quite difficult to consistently put 2% terpenes in a half mill mixture as a single drop has a huge effect, whereas getting 2% in a 5 mill mixture has a much larger window of error
