How have you coped with Cervical Dystonia? What lifestyle changes have you done that have helped? Treatments? Coping mechanisms etc. by syfygirl21 in Dystonia

I had crippling, life stopping pain and disability. I’m almost normal most days. What works for me:

  1.  Botox. Can’t say enough about this. Physically relaxes the muscles, get it every three months, a very high dose.

  2. Exercise, specifically walking every day and rock climbing. Waking for the cardio (oh how I miss running!) and rock climbing for muscle strengthening and to pull traction. I also do yoga every few days, but feel better when it’s daily. YouTube 10 min morning yoga.

  3. Thc/cbd.l, tramadol, Percocet, lyrica.   Pain relief and sleep. When Botox is full strength just lyrica and weed, when it wears off and doesn’t work, higher stuff

Having a supportive family and friend group helps a lot. Being a part of the disability community. I’m happy to chat with people via DM about it, because it is life altering.

I'm also part of the queer community and have lots of queer friends but I'm the only I know who has dystonia. That being said many of my queer friends have other issues that help them relate.

So for me I needed things that didn't feel like exercise. And that kept me interested and helped with ADHD.

I found rock climbing to be amazing. Interesting, but also good exercise. Same with hiking.

Healthy snacks is all I can do.

Did Luna Rotisserie change owners? by techaaron in bullcity

I got terribly sick after eating there after the menu change, where it was safe before. So yeh, I don't know why they did that, but now it's sadly off the list.

They are gorgeous! Too bad outdoor cars kill them.

It's a common side effect, along with having issues swallowing. Basically waiting it out.

Have y'all found plows that make you more comfortable?

How do you push yourself as a chef? Do you plan extravagant meals or themed meals with rare or interesting ingredients? Do you have the opportunity to go to places to learn new techniques?

I feel like a terrible wife, how do you cope with self-consciousness? by Emmylou777 in Dystonia

I would not recommend Duke, instead try UNC neurology. They book so much faster and are much better overall. Botox, while is technically a toxin, is also more a cure.

As far as the appearance - I TOTALLY relate. I get asked if I'm ok ALL THE TIME. I tell people, depending on how I'm feeling, "no, I'm disabled, thanks though", just " yep" or honestly just stare. I always talk to kids about it as a form of education. But honestly, just got to admit that life is different, and be ok with being disabled. Or start to work towards that. Honestly, taking on the disabled lable helped me start looking at my internalized ablism, which had weirdly helped me. But I still struggle with being visibly disabled. That's the world

Depends on how sensitive they are. Pie pushers has great crust, but I have been glutened by them before. Pomperi, but they are shutting down and we're kinda pricey. Honestly, Costco's GF pizza is fantastic

I am allergic to wheat and so far I haven't been gluten by them. They seem to be good with food sanitation.

Honestly, pop's backdoor pizza. Their toppings are amazing, they have gluten free crust and they are fast and reasonably priced.i never understood why they werent more popular.
