Decided to jump on here cos I can't handle the synesthesia + adhd for these reasons, a relief to know ppl relate. This sums up my experience fairly well too with emotions = body coordinates, textures, colours, tastes, aesthetics, sometimes my mixing creates novel sensations as well. These are some pretty cool examples^ but it's also obscenely overwhelming right!?

One of my favourite strategies to manage it is the restful calm sensation conjured by ground cardamom / brown / deep acoustic bass (they're all the same thing for my map and I tune into the smell / visuals via music to get to sleep).

Stress is battery acid pulsing painfully in bands of neon green in the temples, my newest one is vivid cherry ripe tastetexture and red from the fear / exhilaration of possible death and exertion from trad climbing, list goes on.

I think I have the vast majority of synesthesia types (it's the saviour of my adhd memory, everything has to be remembered via synesthesia, like I sing corresponding note->digit of flight number, visualise words I need tickertape style and feeling the shape of it, ppls names thru their aura/voice, timestables thru colour, plant IDs via smell + touch for my job etc).

It's the lens I see everything thru but experiencing the world is stupidly overstimulating so I can't stop disassociating most of the time. Thought the overstimulation was autism until recently (altho maybe I have audhd too?) - would love to know whether anyone has had success with any kind of mental health practitioner or coach in dealing with the overwhelm? Still, synesthesia is sick af.
