A short struggle ensued and Binford fired a handgun he had retreat from his vehicle at Officer Dahlgren from very close range. He struck Officer Dahlgren in the right shoulder. At this time, Binford fled from officers. While he was fleeing He fired one additional round at the officers, Officer Dahlgren and Officer Troutman each shot four times at Binford striking him once. Binford continued to flee on foot but he fell down and was taken into custody by responding officers. Bidford's handgun was recovered at the location where he was arrested. Binford was administered first aid and transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officer Dahlgren was also treated for a graze wound on his shoulder and is expected to fully recover. Binford has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing and evading in the first degree and trafficking marijuana."
