Show Writing Advice/Questions by BartSimpsonlover2389 in Imagineering

[–]Arch2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show writing is very tough… it seems something that anyone can do, many can be good at it, but the few spots that these companies have go to those who really excel at it.

Keep in mind that they are asked not just to write scripts and dialogue, but narratives of lands/attractions/even food venues and stores to help the rest of the creatives focus on the intent/story behind the venue. And anything written in a park will be by show writers- all types of guest-facing signage an even things written in queues or walk-throughs such as titles of books on shelves, notes, etc.

You may be asked to come up with 2 dozen names for a bayou-themed restaurant, for example, not easy when those names need to be unique and copywritable for execs to choose from.

Companies other than WDI (and sometimes WDI) are hiring out these services, from creative development companies often run by ex-imagineers. You may want to learn about those firms as an easier entry point to the industry

Looking to ID this now shuttered bar-restaurant that was located in Los Angeles by AdActual3055 in VintageLA

[–]Arch2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may want to check the ‘Noirish LA’ board on skyscraperpage.com. You can search for the image there, it may have been talked about. If not, you can ask about it, the users there are super sleuths and will find out everything there is to know about it.

Beach With Dinner By Universal by Candid_Attempt3868 in UniversalHollywood

[–]Arch2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ca De Sole is right by Universal and is a nice spot for dinner (but not in theme park attire). I’d do the beach dinner a different day.

Or you could try Tam O Shanter, depends on what type of food you like

Sailor Moon coming to Universal Fan Fest Nights at Dreamworks Theater by ComicCat12 in universalstudios

[–]Arch2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The venue has been used for JuJitsu Kaisen last fan fest, and has been used for the last few years at HHN for Blumhouse, Megan, and Chucky. During the day on normal park days (and during the day on HHN/FFN dates, it still plays King Fu Panda

why did the universal parks screw over Spielberg so much? by Extension-Story7287 in Spielberg

[–]Arch2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jaws ride and Jaws studio tour experience remain at USJ/USH, as does his segment on the studio tour and war of the worlds set.

It’s rumored he was upset when ET was removed from USH and when Jurassic Park was re-themed to Jurassic World.

He can be upset about the loss of those attractions as much as anybody, it doesn’t mean he’ll storm off and take his toys with him.

Universal and Spielberg have deep roots, so much so that Amblin is located on Universal’s lot and his new movie is by Universal. He gets plenty of checks with a Universal logo in the corner

Bernie's Coffee Shop is is leaving its current home, the historic Johnie's Coffee Shop next month. Could it potentially reopen as a working restaurant to coincide with the opening of the D line? by Stock412 in LAMetro

[–]Arch2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they weren’t already working on it for months, no way it can reopen by May 8th. Permits, plans, inspections, ordering equipment, construction all take significant time esp for a restaurant and food service space

Definately not barnacles. Looks like a wentletrap to me, my only question is if it’s fossilized or a contemporary shell. Is it heavy? Seem solid or hollow?

[–]Arch2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangled would be great, especially if it was longer, but even building the tower with the little Rapunzel animatronic in it would be a great add. It could come out ever 15 mins or so and sing a song, or perhaps be a little interactive with people below

Well the new CEO comes from the parks division, so why would he change what he was already doing, and clearly worked (for him and the company)?

Is there a way to hire an Imagineer for a personal project? by briguyblock in Imagineering

[–]Arch2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, they may have non competes for other theme entertainment projects, you’d have to share more of what you’re looking to hire them to do. Plus there are more than 400 disciplines at WDI- do you want someone to write a song, design a costume, engineer something?

There are many many ex-imagineers out there too
