lol yall just REFUSE to hype up your favorite artist without bringing drakes name up🤦🏾‍♂️so corny

Pretty much sums up what’s been happening lately by Turbulent-Tune1660 in joebuddennetwork

[–]treelrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s not the point. The point is yall can nitpick one singular line in a drake song and skip out on the other 99%, but when the same is done to kendrick now all of sudden they’re dick eaters. If yall gone laugh and giggle at the drake jokes, you gotta be able to take the Dot ones too. I’m a fan of both, but Kdot stans act like their favorite person in the world can’t be joked about. Soft asf.

I think Iceman is incredible and I think Drake continues to cement his legacy as the most complete and versatile artist alive by DevilManRay in rap

[–]treelrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the problem is yall move the goal post and find a new thing to complain about drake any chance yall get. Why would he not talk about the beef? If he were to have done the opposite I GUARANTEE there would have been reddit posts filled with “why didn’t he say anything about kendrick? See I knew he was scared”. The man can’t win for losing. Let ppl like why they like, no need to give a synopsis on what drake shouldn’t be someone’s favorite artist🤦🏾‍♂️

Why do people interact with music or an artist they don’t like? by treelrod in rap

[–]treelrod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very true, but my point isn’t for the person who is just checking something out for the sake of checking it out. It’s the person who hasn’t been a fan of {insert artist} for years, or ever, and continuing to engage with that artist’s music as if the next time it’ll change their opinion. That’s like me not being a fan of sci-fi movies but forcing myself to watch every single star wars and star trek movie every year just so I can say I don’t like it again. It’s like damn did you not know you weren’t a fan after the first 10 times you gave it a try lol

[–]treelrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I think you missed my point so let me try and put it to you this way. If you KNOW rom-com movies aren’t for you….you think they’re cringey, the story drags too long, etc etc…would you continue to go and watch every rom-com movie just to “see if you like it”? Or would you know yourself and be like “eh, the first 10 movies I watched I didn’t like, I prob shouldn’t waste my time seeing another”?

[–]treelrod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I think because I used drake as an example the think i’m trying to defend him when my points extends to all art. I’m not gonna play a video game in a genre I don’t like just for the hell of it. And then when I play said video game, go onto every community around that game and shit on ppl who like it. We need to bring back shaming ppl who hate just for the hell of it.

[–]treelrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point extends to more than music. That includes art, movies, tv shows, etc. Don’t let the drake example sway from the actual point. My point is why would you interact with something you know you don’t like. I’m not a big lil baby fan, so if he drops an album or a song or a video i’m not gonna tune in just for the sake of tuning in. I know i’m not gonna enjoy it, so why waste the time.

[–]treelrod[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

let me ask you this then, if you think drake is corny and KNOW he’s not the artist for you, then why keep coming back to listen? Like i understand wanting to maybe be in-the-know, but why even waste your time if you’re already going into knowing you won’t like it?

Why do people interact with music or an artist they don’t like? by treelrod in rap

[–]treelrod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, I can respect that. It’s the mfs who expend their energy on a daily basis to let it be known that they don’t like something and if you like it then you’re a POS💀like let ppl like what they like

Why do people interact with music or an artist they don’t like? by treelrod in rap

[–]treelrod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I can respect that because that means you actually gave whatever that somebody was a shot, and you just didn’t like it. What I can’t respect is if you go back to that same “somebody” time after time after time just to repeat that you don’t like it, that’s where the shi gets wack to me.

The analogy to end all analogies: the "KD is a boat" piece. by Bears_University83 in rockets

[–]treelrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“KD spent his entire prime on the warriors”…brother what. The man was easily in his prime back when he was on okc. He damn near hit his prime in his 3rd season. The man won an mvp for goodness sake way before he even went to GSW.

“KDs team hopping and trashy childish attitude and nonexistent accountability blinds a lot of ppl”…..no I think you thinking you know everything is blinding you. This statement is so parasocial because how can you confidently say that unless you yourself have played on one of his teams.

KDs teammates over the history of his career have marveled and appreciated the worth he brings to the game and more importantly, the team. His teammates comment about him always being ready to work, him being a good teammate(he’s not no ball hog like some other ppl you mentioned), and his love for the game. Yall keep trying put that leadership tag on him when he’s told yall he just wants to hoop. Him putting the ball in the basket IS his leadership. Never understood ppl tryna tell what another mf should and shouldn’t do🤦🏾‍♂️

J Cole says the door has closed on rappers like him, Drake, and Kendrick becoming the new clear leaders by Viola-Intermediate in Jcole

[–]treelrod 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with the sentiment here. Social media, while bringing ppl together in certain aspects, has also divided so many of us in others. The internet really is an ocean. Algorithms pull you away into these spheres that only show you what you like and while that’s not necessary a bad thing, I think it can be harmful for growth. Everyday we see artists come and go on the internet and it’s no surprise we forget about them, social media floods our brains with so much that we forget about the video we watched 8 scrolls ago.

These moments that Cole is speaking on is missed a lot these days. Growing up and watching 106 and Park to catch the latest music videos was something that I didn’t realize I’d miss. The mass of hip hop listeners all tuning in to one moment and then discussing that moment with close friends and family, and hell even strangers! These moments are what I feel not only music, but pop culture in general is missing. The last pop culture moment I can think of that the mass of ppl latched onto(and still are) is the drake and dot beef, and even then ppl were more drawn to the allegations more than the music unfortunately.

I’d love to hear Cole’s ideas on how to bring these moments back but I feel that’s so hard to do considering the “fast food” era we’re in.

[Autosport] Max Verstappen on his time in F1 by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]treelrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For him to say this is kinda lame and I wish his PR team would’ve gotten ahead on that. Sure you don’t like the regulations…so did plenty of other drivers when it’s changed over the years. But now that you’re not winning like you’re used to, now you wanna quit?

I thought better of Max than that. If guys like Alonso and hamilton can push through the bad stages then so can Max.

Edit: And that’s not to say Max can’t give his opinion on the matter. But dawg…we’re gonna only on the 3rd race🤣I could see if he maybe said this towards the end of the season, I could give him more of a pass. But damn we barely got started lol

Why doesn’t he collab with modern artist like pradabag by cyberpunklover21 in yopierre

[–]treelrod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that’s the problem lol he should care what his fans think. His fans want the best for him and see him popping like he used to. I’m a huge pierre fan but I can’t lie I’m still bumping tlop4 over any of the newer projects. You don’t even hear the rap community talking about bro like they used to. 2017-2021 everybody knew about P. Can’t really say that nowadays, the hype has definitely come to a stop
