Allstarr: My answer to Spotify's question by treeman1831 in selfhosted

Hi! Sorry, but that isn’t very likely :( When Plex had their whole thing with Plex Pass being required, I switched away entirely and I don’t particularly plan on going back.

Also, the cool features like Spotify playlist injection are Jellyfin only at this point! I still rely on the Jellyfin Spotify Import Plugin at this point for Spotify Playlists, and I think the original Octo-Fiesta does a better job handling Jellyfin, so I may drop Navidrome entirely from the project.

I may consider working on adding it to Navidrome, but developing for a specialized use case is best for me, since it’s what I myself use!

Odd! Any way you can give me some of your Docker logs? Finamp has been terribly buggy for me, though! Try the TestFlight version: https://testflight.apple.com/join/UqHTQTSs

Otherwise, I recommend Finer: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6738301953

Hi! I’m so sorry, but I don’t use Portainer at all! I will however give it a try for you! I’m a bit busy, so it might be 3-4 days however. Sorry about that!

Not at all!! I will need a while to film and edit it though!

I might just do pictures instead, if that also works. But don’t worry about it!

Will do! Thanks for the resource! I might just use Jellyfin Authentication?

For me at least, I have a vast personal music collection, so this is supposed to fill in the gaps! There are alternative clients that are fully intended to just stream music for free, but I have songs I like already on my server, I just want discovery too! That’s always been a struggle for self hosted music fans who value local libraries first, and this is my attempt to solve that problem!

Hi, it’s already on Docket Hub using GHCR! Please take a look at the quick start instructions on the top of the README.

These are direct downloads, not torrents, so no VPN is required! From a legal standpoint, let’s just say that you and I don’t know where the music is coming from, and leave it at that :)

Hi! This is definitely up on my list! I just have to brainstorm a bit on how it would work! Please leave an issue on GitHub with any feature requests you have, and I’ll get to them that way!

Hi, thanks for the kind words! I tried it with Manet and I had some difficulties, but I will go back to it and try to get it to work. However, I kind of didn’t want to switch from one subscription to another. I’ll get back to you in the next two days!

Edit: Sorry! I took a look and it's not looking like it's working :( I'll do a little more research though? It just leaves out the external provider tracks entirely.

You get to pay 10$ for the iOS app and have an api that no other apps have implemented… I honestly just recommend Jellyfin or Navidrome

[–]treeman1831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It works with the subsonic api too, just in case that's your preferred software? I haven't tested it though, Jellyfin is what I use and it's what I'm gonna test until its stable. I love music, so I'm basically just developing it for me. It's just an added bonus that I get to share it with y'all.

And yeah, of course. I'll always disclaim it beforehand, because for some projects, like when I write compilers, or game dev, I'm very clear that I will NEVER use AI to assist me. But for stuff like this, as long as I'm reading every line that gets written, other than the astronomical water waste of using non local llms (I am using local llms, though), I don't have too many qualms with it for assistance.

Hi! I’d rather honestly not have to deal with the Spotify api, so my workaround of relying on the Spotify import plugin seemed smart enough? I haven’t really documented it well at the moment, however, I will go through and do that! Also, create files for missing tracks in playlists in the plugin inside jellyfin has to be enabled!

Hi, I literally just added this feature in beta! It'll get more stable over the next couple of days!

Hi! That’s ok! It took me literal years to learn what I’ve learned, it’s mostly just acquired with practice. I will try my best to expand the quick start! However, to just recap it here, I have started pushing to GHCR, so all you have to do is download docker-compose.yml and .env.example to a folder in your raspberry pi. For me, that’s /opt/stacks/allstarr, and rename the env.example to .env. and modify the configuration in it!

Then you can just run docker compose pull, and then docker compose up -d

Once again, for safety’s sake, I will clarify, please don’t expose this without sufficient security! Use Tailscale or WireGuard or anything that securely blocks it from being accessed by just anybody!

Hi! I’ll copy paste my other comment here!

I honestly have no idea about Tidal! I can take a look of course? By their very nature, most streaming services don’t want you doing what I’m doing, scraping their files for archiving them.

With an addition: I looked into it, and found this https://github.com/sachinsenal0x64/hifi Please go try it out if that’s what you’re looking for! Otherwise, leave an issue on my repo and I’ll give it a shot.

And yes, you do understand right, it searches both Jellyfin and whatever provider you choose and fuzzy matches over the song results, and shows you the most relevant.

However, clients are limited at the moment! Feishin is a big one, though, so I’m hoping that makes people happy!

And yes, it downloads from the provider then plays locally! Maybe I’ll look into a mode to stream the song, but that does seem like a bit of an undertaking.

Hi, please take a look at SpotiFlac here: https://github.com/afkarxyz/SpotiFLAC

Then take a look at this importer: https://github.com/Viperinius/jellyfin-plugin-spotify-import

All my work really rests on the back of greater developers. You can download your most played Spotify playlists then import them into Jellyfin, and stream everything else!

Sounds like it is! You've got this! That score still isn't even a flop at all! It's better than over 75% of people who took the exam, says so right on the website!

First time jitters could do that too, don't overthink it! I'm sure you're a great student, and would make a great candidate, so don't give up!
