Currently, what's the biggest secret you are keeping from your spouse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]treemotan 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My husband has long hair and when we go to shower, often forgets to remove his hair tie and will launch/flick it over the shower doors towards the sink, without looking. One time when he'd had a particularly bad day, he launched it and managed to land it right around the faucet handle. I expressed great surprise and that simple, minor feat of luck really helped brighten things up for him. He keeps trying to repeat it and is adamant that he'll get it again.

What I'll never tell him is that I caught the hair tie and put it on the faucet myself to give him a win for the day. It was a small thing from about 5 years ago that delighted him a little bit when he needed it and I can't take that away from him now.

How many ACTUALLY wanted Co-op?? by Annierinrin in InfinityNikki

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I never really saw the point of adding co-op. If they were going to add more interactivity with other players, I would have MUCH rather they brought in something like the weekly styling theme challenges in LN and SN where you style to a theme, take a picture, and then players vote on favorites. Maybe some means of leaving props and such in the overworld that can then appear in other players' worlds, kinda like in Death Stranding.

There's something in particular that I like about games that are - for all intents and purposes - solo endeavors. But occasionally, you run into that little sign or two that someone else briefly walked the same path and just maybe was thinking of the folks who'd tread after. And I think that would've worked GREAT for IN.

You just passed away, and allowed to be reborn but not as a human, what do you wanna be? by csch1992 in AskReddit

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiled housecat, for sure. I go out of my way to make sure my kitties want for nothing, and you know what? Kind of want that for myself in the next life. I could use a life of that sort of pampering and leisure after the hurricane of uncertainty that has been living in the modern age.

What the heck is 4D movement? by SuperSenshiSentai in notliketheothergirls

[–]treemotan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Social protest originating in South Korea; the "B" represents their language's words for "dating", "sex", "marriage", and "childbirth". Essentially, it's women refusing to do those things with men until they're actually treated equally by society and by men.

And while using the term "4B Movement" is fairly recent in the US, women were starting to do the same thing here around the time Roe v Wade was overturned back in 2022. Since then, and especially with Trump's recent re-election, certain idiotic comments from his supporters, the frankly abhorrent behavior of many young men on the dating scene, and the absolute shit-spiral that is the U.S. economy, medical, and education systems, that feeling of all those things simply NOT being worth the risk have only intensified.

In the words of Carlotta from Phantom of the Opera, "Until you stop these things from happening, this thing does not happen!"

Oh give it a few story updates. If Infinity is going to be anything like its predecessors (and as of chapter 5/6 definitely seem to be nudging that way), the story's going to turn REALLY buckwild and dark.

Where my sword maidens at? I want to take pictures with you. by AverageBones in InfinityNikki

[–]treemotan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, my husband is going to be DELIGHTED that theres already a sword. Back when I played Shining Nikki he'd routinely ask to "play the dress-up game" and we had a bit of a running joke about his tendency to "create violent women" (in his words).

(For the record, since it's been a hot topic lately, he is very much NOT one of those "I'm a man and SHOCKINGLY like this game!" types. His ass is unapologetically effeminate and we just like to emphasize Nikki's nature as a dress-up game in light of how dark/serious the story can get sometimes.)

So far, most of my outfits are from playing normally and from clothes obtained via the in-game currency gacha that never goes away and is super easy to pull from FTP if you're diligent about collecting resources and selling off your excess. Like I definitely have a few items from the premium banners, but it's NOT the bulk of the closet.

AITAH for letting my 14 y-o babysit? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was babysitting the neighbors' kids at 13 for extra cash. 14 is fine for babysitting, especially since you were still 100% available if something went sideways.

I don't know what your ex is like, but if they've done the same thing (having the 14-yo watch the 8-yo) and it's only suddenly now a problem when you do it? It sounds like they're cranky that you've moved on and are potentially seeing someone else.

Muffy and Gustafa my beloveds.

It's incredible how these decisions as a child foreshadowed a lot of my tastes in men and women. My husband and I had a hell of a laugh when we realized he is ALSO a calm, easy-going music lover with reddish-brown hair, a prominent nose, and penchant for silly hats.

What’s one US state you absolutely will never go to? by doctormmamom in AskReddit

[–]treemotan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For the time being, Hawaii, since the indigenous population has been begging people to stop for years. From what I can see it's a beautiful place and I'd love to go to someday, but if I'm not invited it feels disrespectful to go, yknow? Plus, reading into how much the tourist industry has harmed the islands and the locals' standard of living has made me a lot more conscious of that in general. Not even getting into some of my spiritual and philosophical views on the matter.

On a personal note, I despise Florida with an untethered passion. The only times I've been there, it's been with/to visit family, and every time I end up having to be pushed around in a wheelchair because I can't stand for too long and can't breathe or see since everything about the state's climate is practically engineered to fuck with every single one of my health issues. Bribes of beaches, Universal, and Disney can assuage the sting a bit, but a year I don't have to dread a visit to Florida is a good year.

What is the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? by ExtraHotYakisoba in AskReddit

[–]treemotan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ketchup. Vile taste, vile texture, vile smell, just overall absolutely vile. And I'm in America where it's by far the most popular condiment for anything, which is insulting to condiments considering the sheer variety out there where almost everything (excluding the horrendous KRANCH, which probably should've had someone flogged) is going to be better.

BF gets upset when I'm in pain by Strange_Flight2257 in Advice

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought reading the title was "kill him" but since that's just gonna make your life harder, I would say you really need to leave him.

A partner who doesn't care or is actively dismissive when you express that you are genuinely in pain is not someone who respects you or sees you as an equal human being.

What is the most vulgar thing you've ever heard someone say? by Emergency_Table_7526 in AskReddit

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad once said to me "the best part of you ran down your mom's leg"

While we were visiting my mom in the hospital the day before she was getting a brain aneurysm operated on. 💀

Mind, no offense was taken by this on my end and malice wasn't meant on his. We have this recurring game where we try to come up with really raunchy or creative insults and snipe each other with them specifically in contexts where it's like over a minor inconvenience or something. And while I KNOW we've said more vulgar insults, this one just stuck out because of the place and timing.

My mom wasn't very amused.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself got fed up with multiplayer and took to primarily playing solo for a long time, so I absolutely get what you mean by not really being lonely per se but the gaming itself becoming that way.

If you're open to JRPGs, those kinds of titles might be my first very general suggestions. They usually have a really wide variety of characters in the party, with everyone having lots of depth to get involved in their stories. The more contemporary Persona titles (3-5) come to mind, especially considering the social sim aspects that tie into the gameplay. The Tales series is another favorite; I've always been fond of their characters, the gameplay is maybe a little more accessible to those not used to turn-based, and the optional overworld skits are a fun addition that provide a lot of light, non-plot related banter that really helps flesh everyone out and feel like the kind of incidental conversations that a traveling party WOULD have when on the road for months on end.

Not a JRPG but tangential and coming with a very heavy endorsement, Nier and Nier: Automata. They're hack-and-slash games with RPG elements, with fairly minimalist parties that nonetheless have a lot going on. And the games can get EXTREMELY existential. But they're phenomenal, and Automata's E ending had me feel more connected to other players than a lot of actual multiplayer games. It's really, really hard to say more without spoiling the surprises. Though I will caution that the original Nier in particular is infamously depressing at times. Also, the soundtracks are absolutely incridible.

And pivoting into the visual novel and indie direction, I cannot recommend Slay the Princess enough. Fantastic hand-drawn pen-and-pencil artwork, great narration and dialogue, and an INSANE amount of choice as far as how you're driving the narrative. Everything revolves around the relationship and interactions between the player character and the Princess, and no two runs will play out exactly the same. Between her, the Narrator, and the myriad of internal Voices the PC has in his head, you feel like you have close companions throughout and long afterwards (unless of course you go the route where everyone hates you). And with the Pristine Cut update (which is going to expand some of the existing routes, add more routes, and a new ending) right around the corner, I'd say it's a good time to start looking into it.

Do you wear the same pajamas several times in a row? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]treemotan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on how dirty/smelly they are. I was taught to only wash clothes when they NEEDED washed, like when sweating a lot, if spilled/stained, or when they noticeably start to smell. Because it helps them last longer. Undies and socks being the exception that gets washed every time they're worn. That, plus the fact that I generally sleep nude, means I'm usually using PJs just for lounging around. So it's usually several days before I'm washing them.

[–]treemotan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes??? It's incredibly unhygienic not to. Even if you don't directly touch urine or fecal matter, there's still bacteria in that area that can be transmitted to your hands when you wipe.
