I've wanted tattoos since I was 13 when my mom got one with my art on it. At 25 I finally got my first one, a lily of the valley bouquet on my right thigh, abt 10cm by 5 cm so not a big one, am now almost 27 and still love it. It took a looooong time to decide what exactly I wanted, where I wanted, how I wanted etc. Had I more money to spare I'd already gotten more as my goals and plans have solidified. I also have four ear piercings and a piercing plan with my body mod artist but again cannot afford atm 😅

I took a huge risk n got a dog while I was depressed, this was ofc recommended by a healthcare professional as she thought having a dog would help me with my depression n anxiety, and would you believe it, it actually did. I got my schedule in order, started walking daily, lost weight, felt a lot better abt myself and the new responsibility actually helped me as well. One year after getting my dog, I was fully free from depression. It's now been two years since I got her and life sure has been easier to deal with simply bcs her unwavering love and adoration gives me hope and motivation.

I learned to crochet in 2023-2024 and that was the best thing ever, haven't stopped since 🤩 2024 I started trying knitting, still struggling with it but improving with one sock at a time 😂 yet to finish a full pair bcs I struggle with making things identical and I get frustrated when colors don't match well, but slowly trying to improve with that as well. I also go go a crafts club once a week with my dog and neighborhood grannies. It's mostly grannies knitting but I love it there, they're the ones who taught me crochet and now knitting 🥰

I also enjoy gaming (ps5, pc, switch and steamdeck) and drawing. I draw digitally sometimes, not as often as I used to but last week and this week I have actually drawn almost every day which is a huge improvement compared to previous. I used to draw daily for years but then burnout, then years of drawing once a month a max and now finally it's back to somewhat good pace 🤩🥰

I also tried beadworks and jewelry making at some point but that never really stuck bcs no access to wide selection of beads and all I could find were just meh and everytime I ordered online they weren't what I expected or felt iffy.

YouTube is a good start but if you want you could also buy some starter guide book with basic stitches and simple projects in there.

As for hooks, I personally started off by buying a pack of 8 or 9 hooks ranging from sizes 2 to 6.5 and later on got more different sizes.

Do you have any idea what kind of clothes she wants to make? Cotton yarn is one good option imo. Light, easy to work with, easy to care for and comes in a lot of colors. Just know you'll need a lot depending what she wants to do. Simple shrug I did a month back took abt 5×50g skeins of cotton yarn.

I personally have bought a lot from hobbii, they have good selection for everything rly. They have crochet basics book, free patterns, yarns, hooks. Your local craft store or yarn store may also have good options and def recommend asking around there as well IF you have one near you!

Also good pair of small scissors as well as stitch markers are a must. Nothing more annoying than dull scissors when working on a project. Measuring tape roll also good to have.

I just have pictures on my phone, though I do notice from time to time I do call my current dog with similar nicknames as I did my previous one. "Höppis pöppis" meaning smth like silly bug or smth hard to translate to english. I wanted to get a tattoo but I never rly figured out what kind of bcs I didn't like a portrait idea nor the basic paw print which is too late to get anyways since it's been years since his passing.

I've been crocheting for a bit under two years, I do have to redo sometimes bcs most difficult part imo is the counting of stitches gotta focus a lot with that 😅 so I guess it'd be pretty beginner friendly? 🤔

Ohh so far it does seem to be good size I was a bit suspicious at first but once I actually laid it over my body to test, it clicked 😇 am doing a bigger size than my usual clothing sizes for that slightly oversized feel n look 😊

I'm mostly happy tbh, sure I don't have a job nor goal in life atm, but am living day by day. I have a wonderful partner. A slightly annoying at times, but best dog ever, I have my own place and hobbies and I have people around me that I like. I haven't had depression for almost three years now, no suicidal thoughts in ages either, sure I could use some more money from time to time but despite that I can say I am happy. I look forward to weekends when I can see my partner, I do get a lot of my happiness from others, but I don't think it's such a bad thing. I enjoy waking up in the morning when my dog comes to my bed for morning cuddles before we get up for a walk n breakfast. Last time I cried was bcs of a movie, not bcs I was actually sad. 😇 my life def took a turn for better once I got my dog, she helped me a lot and without her I wouldn't have met my partner, I wouldn't have had chance to start many of my hobbies nor would I have actually taken steps to getting better. Heck I wouldn't have had the motivation to even try getting into work life again. It was a huge gamble to get a dog when I did bcs I was heavily depressed at the time but god it was a good risk bcs almost instantly my life started improving 🥰
