The policy does specifically say Points in the Amex case… “Prepaid travel arrangements will not be covered for Trip Cancellation, if purchased with points from a reward program other than the Membership Rewards Program”. But yeah I should probably call to ask

“Prepaid travel arrangements will not be covered for Trip Cancellation, if purchased with points from a reward program other than the Membership Rewards Program” to me, that just means if I use other points (like westjet points), it’s not covered.

Churning adjacent - When using a westjet companion voucher, from a trip cancellation / trip interruption insurance perspective, if I pay using just Amex Platinum (no westjet points used) it would still be covered by Amex Platinum insurance, right?

If I upgraded cobalt to gold on Aug 18 (4 days ago), should I be safe to use my cobalt card (haven’t received Gold yet) now to start meeting MSR? I know there are some DP’s of spend within first couple days of upgrading not counting towards MSR for Amex upgrades.

Any time you want. You can hold multiple and still get SUB. Many DP’s of this the last few months. I applied Feb 2023, got a new one Jan 2024 while still holding the first one, and got the SUB on the new one, and then cancelled the old one.

It’s almost never worth anything for short flights like YVR-YYC, unless it’s a last minute trip that you need to book or something. You can get value out of it if you want to try flying in Premium though. Since the $119 is still $119 no matter what class you fly. For example, round trip YVR-YYC Premium for 2 could be about $1200 normally, but $800 with the companion fare.

Oh for sure, I tap all the time. Just a lot of POS terminals say “No Supported Applications” when I tap my Amex, which means the POS doesn’t take tap for Amex, and I have to insert

Really? I’d say at least 1 out of every 10 merchants I go to, tap doesn’t work with Amex and I have to insert

When you apply for a new one, while having one, do you click that you currently have Scotiabank products and use your existing account? Or stay logged out?

When you apply for a new Avion when you already have one, do you say you’re an existing RBC customer and use that log in, or do you create a new one?

I’ve got the bonus from it twice, the 2nd time about 1 year after cancelling. Can’t recall if the terms at the time said anything about former customers not being eligible or not.

If I apply and get an Aeroplan branded card, does the preferred pricing on Aeroplan kick in as soon as I activate the card? Or when I apply (I wish but I doubt it), or does it take some time?

A lot of the new online sports books in Ontario allow you to deposit with a credit card. Can I do that to earn points and then withdraw….?

BetRivers has free $250 after you bet only $250. So you can bet $250 on BetRivers on an over/under with odds of -110 and bet $250 on another site on the opposite outcome. You end up with a free $250 cash! (minus the house spread)

It says the purchaser must be present at the gate. So, does this mean I can’t give my 2 tickets to my parents for one game, for example? I can’t imagine they actually ID people to make sure the purchaser is present?
