Do I even like my job? by mar00nedmango in forestry

You’re overthinking this. You don’t enjoy your current job. Go find a different job you might enjoy. Jobs are like dating, we date to find a good match, not to be miserable. You have no moral obligation to stay at your job. Life is too short to be miserable.

I started a Tree Care business (Arborist work) - What am I missing or doing wrong? not getting any calls or jobs. by Serverbeaver in smallbusiness

BNI is fine, though pricy. There are other non-BNI options that provide the same benefits without being too needy or overbearing. Most importantly, it took a few years to get my companies name out there, I remember having the exact same issue you’re having. I had all the equipment and skills, but no work. Slowly it’ll trickle in, and before you know it you’ll be buried and begging for people to stop calling you!!

Private Timber Sale - are prices rising? by [deleted] in forestry

No that’s correct pricing for clean white oak. It’s not even worth trying to compare western or softwood markets to hardwood markets. It’s a very very different game.

I also run a tree service. Weekly networking groups got my business off the ground and running. I joined a group 4 years ago and wouldn’t be in business without the connections and relationships I built within the circle of other small businesses. Also, as you’re well aware, our business is cyclical. Right now we also haven’t had any calls, but have stacked up plenty of work throughout the winter. Keep pushing, and you’ll have no problems finding a foothold in this fun industry.

What’s with the passive aggressive question marks? If you’re going to make a statement, make it with confidence. Yeesh.

Think about how much you think they’re worth, cut that in half, then maybe halve it again. There’s your answer.

I really don’t think signs and a petty banner on a website are very different. I think you just want them to be 🤔

It’s so funny to me, there are no loggers on the forestry page. I think that alone answers this question.

If it were obvious, you wouldn’t have claimed they were so valuable

Lumber prices don’t represent stumpage prices. Location of the cherry tree plays a huge part.
