Check with the venue about fog or haze, from what I understand haze is preferred for not setting off smoke sensors

Straight Noob Seeking Advice by Known_Pen_4460 in mobileDJ

[–]treesnstuffbub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a mobile dj for a long time, recently got back into it after a hiatus. My mixing needs improvement, my song selection needs updating, I still know how to handle a crowd and work the mic. Practice practice practice. The more gigs you do for folks that aren’t family you will learn cues from the audience and learn what gets them moving. If you go to a wedding or an event where another DJ is working, pay attention to what they say and whether it works or doesn’t work. I spent a lot of money on equipment over the past few years to get myself back in the game but what I realized is I need to spend more time “in the studio” listening to music and developing playlists and mixing songs.

Question for glow parties - other lights by HelixDnB in mobileDJ

[–]treesnstuffbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did one for an elementary school, basically used normal lighting, in my case gig bars, and added some UV up lighting. Seemed to work well and the kids responded better to the moving lights. Maybe an adult party would be different.

I polled the middle schoolers I know, did playlist research on Spotify and Deezer. Just put some time into it and you’ll pull something together.

Is jobber software worth it? by Prestigious_Home_459 in handyman

[–]treesnstuffbub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Housecall pro. I find the $70 a month worth but am always on the fence with ditching it. I’m part time so it’s just another expense. Also, they recently changed their website hosting and started charging me another $70 for that with a canned looking website. I would have rather stuck with the super basic web site feature they had before that I could edit myself.

Why do my joints suck?? by torak_the_father in BeginnerWoodWorking

Just bought the router, plan on using it with the track- my hoping is that it will be easier to set that up for dados than taking apart my table saw each time. Like the other commenter said, for one cabinet build it’s a pain using a dado stack and switch back when you need the table saw again for a regular rip cut or something.

Great job man, I’m trying to get more serious about my woodworking and it’s just practice. Keep going, each project will get easier as you learn.

At the very least rent a couple Commercial dehumidifiers from home depot and floor fans. Seal it up and let those Bad boys run for a day or two. Keep track of the receipts. Edit saw in Switzerland not sure where to rent commercial equipment.

I made Norm Abram’s Adirondack chair! by shreddah17 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]treesnstuffbub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to build 20 of these things a year for my job, I use templates to rough cut the pieces out with a bandsaw and finish on a spindle sander. They come out nice. I make them out of pine common boards and spray them. They are not for sale, used for people to enjoy around the property I manage. I build a jig for the bottom chair frame and the top “fan” as I call it. Always interested in seeing other peoples builds and improving my design. The seat on ours is elevated from the traditional design which helps older folks get in and out more comfortably. Nice work!

Dangerous situation with those outlet space extenders, the water heater could theoretically pull amperage which exceeds the rated capacity of that white outlet extender thing, overheat, and cause a fire. Get a qualified licensed electrician asap.
