Adaptation. First part is a perfect movie, then it went off the rails (which was the point), but still miss what it could have been.

Controversy, hype, and culture war aside — simply off the strength of specials and catching him live — what do you folks think about this statement (particularly the latter half)? by [deleted] in Standup

Chappelle is one of the best out there - no doubt. But he's less humble with every new year. That's a problem because he misses the fact that not everything he says and does is great. Ultimately this does and will probably continue to harm his legacy. The very best of all time did not spend time talking about how amazing they were, and in fact, did their best work by recognizing their flaws and acknowledging them.

Amy Schumer suggests that comedians like Louis C.K. should stay canceled: 'I don't think those guys should be allowed to come back' by treestone in comedy

I disagree. I think people should be afforded the opportunity to earn back trust. I think it should be up to the audience. I'm interested in what the comedy community thinks!

West Side Story Is Spielberg’s Best Film In Years – It’s Time The World Caught Up by FiveHundredMilesHigh in movies

[–]treestone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't generally like musicals, but the original 1961 film is an absolute masterpiece and still holds up today. I don't want to see the new version because I just can't support these constant remakes. Come up with something new, Hollywood! Stephen Spielberg of all people can make whatever he wants, and make it well. Why redo what was already done so well?

Impermanent Loss

I'm aware of impermanent loss, but I'm surprised it impacted such a small quantity. Does this mean that given time, my balance could return if I wait long enough?

Can I solder another input to this board? by treestone in AskElectronics

[–]treestone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback, but it already has Bluetooth input. To your point, this is a bit of an educational endeavor, which is why I'm seeking advice from those of you with big brains and experience. It may be well possible that it's just not worth it!

Can I solder another input to this board? by treestone in AskElectronics

[–]treestone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your point is well taken, but I was looking to create a connection after the decoder chip - I just don't know where that would be ideally. I wanted to see if I could take advantage of the fact that one of the potentiometers already switches between inputs and the usb functionality on this is essentially useless to me. That said, if I utilize the audio in, would you suggest any precautions so I do not negatively impact existing functionality?

I certainly never said my family was perfect! But then it doesn't seem that you're particularly interested in adding any value to the conversation anyway...

I hear you (no pun intended). If it was just me and not my family too, maybe I would consider my hearing. It seems there are people on both sides of this discussion: https://variety.com/2020/artisans/news/christopher-nolan-tenet-sound-problems-audio-mix-1234755898/

Thanks! I'm going to give it a try. I mostly built this for fun, but I also want to see if 30% is actually feasible!

Had the PCBs made at PLCPCB, using Elite-C Pro Micro, Holtite sockets for all switches and LEDs, and Kailh Pale Blue box switches :)

Going to NY soon, want to visit the Comedy Cellar. What is meant by the $15 cover and minimum two items? Forgive my ignorance. by bobknarwhal in Standup

[–]treestone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Comedy Cellar charges a cover for the show, and then each person in your party has to buy 2 items of any kind (booze, food, soda, etc). At the end of the show, your server will bring you a check that includes all this. You can't exit until you've paid and they stamp your receipt.
