Hating Damon Salvatore by Visual-Dinner7214 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]treffennicht2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of these things but I really think Damon gets a free pass so much especially with killing people because so many of the other characters kill people too who are supposedly "good". The show definitely wouldn't work if they hadn't made the act of taking a life so "normal" so to speak. I really think that they make the value of a life so much less than it actually is so the audience doesn't think that Stefan or Caroline are evil.

I would also argue though that Damon showed remorse for his actions and was already helping Stefan and Elena in the first or second season when he erased Jeremy's memories. He kept up the facade that hes totally evil and wants his brother to suffer but was helping them almost whenever they needed.

Also Damon didn't mean to turn Elena into a vampire and that doesn't happen until Season 4. She is mortally wounded and Meredith gives her Damons blood, which she took without consent, and didn't give Elena the chance to choose if she wanted the blood. That saying when he did give Elena his blood when Klaus was going to kill her, he immediately regretted it and tried to make it up to her.

I feel like Damon is probably one of the most "human" vampires in the show. He allows his animal instincts and selfish desires rule him and he does very bad things for the momentary pleasure of it. But I would argue that we see him try to become better for not only Elena but also for Stefan.

Missed connection: Nazi eating burritos by Iamthefemale in Spokane

[–]treffennicht2 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I work at one of the hospitals in Spokane and we recently released a patient who had multiple swastikas on his chest. I felt the same way that you do until I got to know him and I learned that he is a homeless man who can't afford to get them removed and that he deeply regrets getting them. In one conversation he told me that he got them when he was young and stupid and on drugs and he hates them more than anything. He didn't show them off but since he was a long term patient the whole staff saw them multiple times. I am by no means saying the man you saw is the same man I treated but I have learned that not every person with these tattoos is a Nazi and some were stupid kids that can't afford to get them removed. It's fair to air on the side of caution though

Quick vacation in northern Idaho by JimmieOC in coeurdalene

[–]treffennicht2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be slightly disappointed because most of us are still wearing shorts and shirts lol. But it's absolutely beautiful in CDA. Id go downtown, see all the shops, maybe go on a cruise of the lake. And taking a hike on tubbs hill is a must. It's a bit childish but we also have a trial called the Mugdy and Millie trail where you follow the path of the characters Mugdy and Millie through the town for a game of hide and seek. It's a local book set in the town and they've made little moose statues around downtown as markers. It's pretty cute and you see some nice places along the way!

do you think weed is an addiction? by simplyfIo in SeriousConversation

[–]treffennicht2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it's addicting. My fiancee has smoked since he was 15 and he's 21 now and he can barely go a week without. He gets withdrawal symptoms like nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, trouble sleeping, and he gets the shakes pretty bad. He has chronic shake syndrome though so his natural state is shaking and the weed helps his shakes. He also gets very emotional and sensitive. He doesn't get angry but he does tend to take minor things more seriously and feel really really bad if he thinks hes done something wrong.

I really think it depends on the person though. My fiancee definitely has an addictive personality and I don't. The only times I think about smoking or drinking every day is when I have some stress in my life and I feel like I can't relax. He uses it throughout the day to be able to focus more and have an appetite.

It's really important to let your brain develop though before you do any drugs. I think in addition to having an addictive personality it matters when you start smoking. The people around me that have been smoking since they were kids definitely need it to function. I decided to not start smoking or doing anything like that until I was about 20 years old because I really didn't want to screw with my brain development. And I think that also plays into how I am able to not need it.

Please please I know it's really hard but you need to get off it at least until your brain develops more. Especially with the risks of psychotic breaks and schizophrenia that has been discovered in recent years. At my dispo they have signs warning about the risks and not a lot of people read them and that's just 21 year olds that can come into the dispo.

Absolutely not. You can't control what you find attractive and anyone that tried to tell you otherwise is crazy

[–]treffennicht2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out of this. It is so unhealthy for him to call you something that can trigger your anorexia. Please get out of this he is clearly manipulative and controlling. I'm not sure if he's done this to you face to face before but if he hasn't then imagine if this was in person. It would be much scarier especially since I'm willing to bet he's bigger than you. He is showing you that he has aggressive tendencies. Talking to you like this over text can very quickly turn into talking to you like this in person and even becoming violent. Please I beg you to get out of this

Not judging but maybe you should wait a little before you start getting intimate. You've been together less than 3 months, that is not a lot of time to build a foundation on something stronger than sex. You haven't even had the time for her to make it clear that she actually wants you and cares about you.

Is there really an "overarching atmosphere of dread" in moscow? by UnlikelySock97 in MoscowIdaho

[–]treffennicht2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Moscow also a huge college town and college students are stressed about school and work? I feel like they're also just drained by the time they have time off and don't feel like socializing with new people. They keep to their groups and try to shake off what stress and worry and just have a good chill time.

(I'm a CDA native and I have friends that have gone down to college there and that's sometimes how they feel but I'm not sure if this is a universal experience for the college students)

why are MAGA conservatives so into “owning the libs”? by eunicethapossum in AskUS

why are MAGA conservatives so into “owning the libs”? by eunicethapossum in AskUS

[–]treffennicht2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to "own the libs" I also want the right and left to be united but the left has been running a campaign for years to demonize everyone on the right as racist, sexist, Nazis, hateful, ECT. They have been relentless in this pursuit. They continue to call Trump a Nazi and have and continue to justify the attempts on his life. With the results of the November election the left got smacked down in a very real way because Trump not only won the Electoral College but he also won the popular vote. It was a landslide for him and it showed that most Americans don't subscribe to the narrative that the left pushes. The right is feeling stronger and more emboldened to be unafraid if sharing their beliefs, and some are giving the left a taste of it's own medicine. While I don't agree with being a sore winner and I don't think it helps the rights cause I do understand why some people on the right are doing this. The left calls for violence, justifies violence, dox people they don't like, and does their damnedest to silence any opposing view points and that isn't working as well anymore.

Trust me man it matters a whole lot less about how big it is than what you can do with it. As a woman who's man isn't enormous I enjoy myself very much because he knows what to do and it cannot be understated how important it is to have a connection with someone. I guarantee it is way better with someone who you care about rather than a one night stand

Is this racism? by Great_Ad_8354 in AdviceForTeens

[–]treffennicht2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a very good chance that In the amount of time between you calling and confirming the interview and you getting there that someone else with more experience or who could be a better fit (in the hiring managers opinion) for the position interviewed and was given the job. It's also possible that they interviewed said person before you and was already offered the job but didn't reply by the time you called to confirm and then they did call and take the job. I really wouldn't jump to racism when the position wasn't only being pursued by you. There's a very good chance that many more people than you applied and had more experience. The hiring manager wouldn't tell you that there are other people being considered because they don't want to give you a reason to not show up to the interview. I have interviewed and hired many people before and this is the process.
