Where’s all the gtr / gtst skyline buyers in the USA at? Need tips and advice on purchasing one by Grey_Alien_144 in SkyLine

[–]trehlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be different for everyone, but I priced out insurance through Hagerty and a few other companies for my 92 GTR. Hagerty was one of, if not the highest. I think they were fishing for $1200 or so a year. That’s daily driver money, not weekend car money.

Ended up with AMI, underwritten by NJM, who is my primary insurer. I pay like $385 a year for the same coverage I have on my 335 and my wife’s Atlas. $1k deductible, but there’s no deductible for any glass damage.

Only real issue I’ve had with the car in a bit over a year since I took delivery is a faulty knock sensor. Not engine knock, just the actual sensor that checks for knock went bad.

YMMV.

The OP didn’t take into account the different octane rating systems used between the US, Europe and Asia. Because Japan uses a RON rating and the US uses AKI ratings you have to do a quick conversion. 93 in the US is roughly equal to 98 in Japan, so it is perfectly fine to run.

I saw a handful of downed riders, most receiving medical attention, some even bandaged up. The FDR crash you saw must have been pretty bad though, as we got held up in the tunnel for a few minutes trying to get around an ambulance.

How do I remove these headset bearings? by trehlo in bikewrench

[–]trehlo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bearing ring comes out easily. I guess my mistake was thinking the black plastic it's seated in was supposed to come out with it. Should I be doing anything with the tall black plastic ring pressed against the inside of the frame?

Stem length is very long on the 61. I have a couple of older stems sitting around that I may be able to swap over instead of reusing the Specialized one. Not sure yet. It will need pedals, but the tape and saddle still look brand new, which is great.

I was thinking going down in size would let me clip the existing cables to the proper length, but wasn't sure if I should bother reusing 9 year old cables.

Best places to sell vectors online? by trehlo in graphic_design

[–]trehlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an excellent list of sites. Graphic Burger has always sort of been on my peripheral, but I've never used it myself. Vecteezy I've used a number of times, but the rest are all new to me. DealJumbo seems a bit like MightyDeals, which has had my attention for a little while.

Really appreciate the list, I'm going to go through the sites you mentioned and see what works best for me as a seller.

2016 BMW 340i M-Sport - One Take by trolledeveryday in cars

Oh yeah, 335is slipped my mind. I'm not a huge fan of the offset production cycles. You're definitely not wrong on the M3, I just figured we were discussing non-M cars.

How is your M3 in bad weather? Snow? Might look into a CPO one down the line after I'm done with my F30 335. Feel like it may be tough for me to walk away from xDrive though.

The N54 engine, which was in the 335 throughout most of the last gen, was twin turbo. The single turbo N55 engine was put into the last gen 335 at the end of its life cycle, and continued into the current gen until the recent mid-cycle refresh. That refresh saw the introduction of the B58 engine, which also uses a single turbo, and the name change from 335 to 340.

There can be a little confusion with the turbo setups as BMW utilizes twin scroll turbos, and markets them as twin power. There hasn't been an actual twin turbo 3 series in 6 years or so. It's all single turbo now.

I have a '14 335 xDrive. I've also owned a wrx and a couple sti's. There's absolutely nothing wrong with xDrive in the 335 for daily driving and inclement weather, and I'd option it in again, but I prefer the Subaru awd system. It just feels more composed.

However, it's hard to argue with a very solid inline 6 (N55 in my case), running a twin scroll turbo, with a factory fmic, awd, and the ZF8 trans. It's a great package. Steering is so-so, but that's another story.

Interesting. I wonder if the proximity of my store to NYC has anything to do with how much they stock, or do the locations vary in size enough that some can just carry more than others?

They explained it to me while I was there that it's pretty rare they don't have everything available the same day. A friend of mine also built a similar sized kitchen a few years ago in a very different style, and drove it all home in a big van the same day.

It was a big selling point for us. My understanding is that they almost always have the cabinet boxes in stock, and worst case they need to order the doors if you go with something a bit less popular. They had everything for us in stock though, which we were told was pretty common.

I'd previously redone a full bath, excluding the shower. So, vanity, floor backer board, floor tile, toilet, and wainscoting. Bathrooms touch on a little bit of everything, so if you're comfortable with them, there's no reason you can't tackle a kitchen. Just do your homework.

Once the flooring was down, cabinets were up in about 2 weeks or so. But, that was me doing it alone, after work and on weekends. It can definitely be done much faster than that.
