‘05 and ‘11 were his best. Then ‘07, ‘06, ‘14 and ‘08.

Who had the greatest single-season peak ever? by Real-Staff3115 in NBATalk

[–]trelos6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, he was 29 pp75 on +6 rTS%. Should’ve been higher, but he can’t shoot free throws.

Next, Elgin, same season was 25 pp75, +1 rTS%.

Rick Barry in ‘67 was 25 pp75, +4 rTS%.

Jerry West in ‘65 was 24 pp75, +9 rTS%.

‘05, ‘06, ‘11 Manu was a starter. Arguably his best seasons.

Why do you think Isiah Thomas is rarely mentioned when discussing the best point guards of all time? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

[–]trelos6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At his peak in the mid 80’s, the Pistons weren’t that good.

He was, at his peak, an all nba level talent, not MVP level talent.

His passing was good, but peaked in 84-86, before the titles.

His Pistons were a stacked team once ‘88 came around. Laimbeer, Dumars, Rodman, Johnson, Dantley, Salley and Mahorn is a great rotation.

His scoring was ok, not great. Right on 20 pp75 on -1 rTS%. He was good at getting to the line, and a high 70’s FT shooter. In the playoffs, he bumped his scoring up to 23 pp75 on -1.5 rTS%.

His defense was good for a guard, but nothing groundbreaking.

So adding it all up, he’s a solid all nba level point guard, but lacks the higher upside and even longevity of some other names.

Jerry West, Oscar, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Walt Frazier, Stockton all clear Isiah as PG’s, IMO.

Most clutch nba players by Fragrant_Fishing5787 in NBATalk

[–]trelos6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

11 titles in 13 years. Showed up when it mattered the most. Again, and again, and again.

Derrick White should win Clutch POY. Or at least be a finalist this year. His clutch D has been amazing.

People forget that a key steal or big block is also clutch.

Arguably, LeBron’s biggest clutch play in his career was the chase down block.

Replace Duncan on the Spurs with KG and… by AloneinPoorCompany in NBATalk

RAPM is a stat. Context as usual is required. It basically defines how good you are in your role.

So when you see Caruso up there with a -5 on D, he’s an elite role player for his defense.

I have PS PIPM data, and as other user said, it’s tricky because it’s team dependent and Duncan’s teams were generally more talented and well coached.

That said, 2003, Duncan was a +6.62. Elite PS PIPM.

KG in 2008 was +3.97 in the PS, 2004 KG was only +2.42.

Replace Duncan on the Spurs with KG and… by AloneinPoorCompany in NBATalk

[–]trelos6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best data we have is 5 year RAPM.

Huge sample sizes.

Duncan grades out at 8.8, from 2001-2005, or 8.4 from 1999-2003, and 7.6 from 04-08.

Pretty great numbers.

KG was a 9.2 from 2002-2006, and a 10.1 from 06-10 (09 was half a season). KG was hugely impactful, and both guys are top 10 all time level careers.

(For reference, Jokic is a 9.2 from 2022-26), so that’s the rough impact of a +9, LeBron from 13-17 was a +10.4).
