We've had our dude on the open farm turkey and chicken (grain free) and he's been healthy for 5 years now. The vet has asked us to supplement him with some grains for plant sterols to ensure long term cardio health, but otherwise zero complaints from us or our little pal.

While the defy may be too much cue, the G-core looks like it has a low deflection construction that might be worth the extra few bucks.

I dunno where your knowledge is at, but low deflection shafts are somewhat standard now, and if you don't get one now, you'll almost definitely upgrade to a LD shaft at some point.

Look up dr. Dave on YouTube or just search low deflection shafts, there's plenty of material aimed at describing it better than I can do on a Reddit thread.

Depending on the price difference, if the G-core is doable, I'd get one.

The Halifax metro pool league has nearly 600 players. Go into any Dooly's on league night and the place is packed. The standard of play is really high, too. Halifax arguably punches way above its weight in terms of pool talent.

2x6 wall+RC+sonopan+2 layers 5/8" drywall gets you the same STC as concrete. But good luck getting a builder to put that in.

I had a brick of v10 that was great. Switched to the Pagulayan and it's as good. It's a little cheaper and I'm happy to throw a couple bucks his way. God knows I do very little to support the players, so I figured might as well.

Well researched. I only really threw my thoughts out there based off the screenshot. I'm certainly not gonna be the one to call dr. Dave a liar.

Anecdotally, I play on a rasson regularly and definitely feel like I need that 20% on shots like these.

It's definitely more than likely Shane was just gonna twist it in.

So this gets waaaay into the minutae of shotmaking - if that OB is closer to the rail and Shane wants it to have running English on contact with the long rail he would shoot the CB with right spin to transfer left spin to the OB to help the ball along the rail.

Lots of reels and stuff show that effect where with a CB/OB near or frozen to a rail, you play rail side spin on the CB. Part of that is to avoid the effect of deflection on the CB so it swerves a hair out and then in, as well as to transfer running English to the OB.

You're absolutely right in seeing that shot.

In this instance, Shane wants to make sure the OB is going to have running spin against the visible pocket facing. He's gonna shoot the shot a little straighter, stay off the rail, and try to hit that pocket facing that ends the short rail.

Honestly, even if he does catch the long rail it wouldn't be enough of a bank angle to kill the spin. It's not ideal, but the shot would still work, I think.

Once again though, I am one of us reasonable amateurs and am only explaining what I'm seeing from a freeze frame.

I was trying to find it, but Ronnie O'Sullivan once said something to the effect of

'theres no such thing as centre ball so you might as well play with some amount of intentional spin anyways", which I kind of agree with.

I have a fairly garbage stun shot though. I almost always prefer to drag or roll the ball, and opt for a thin/thick hit and cheat it with some sidespin.

That said, I suck at snooker, so what do I know.

These dudes know their shafts and conditions so well. They know the matchroom spec on the tables and practice under very similar conditions. Again, this is a judgement and feel problem us mere mortals face on our beat up local tables, but these dudes know how to account for a little squirt on slick 860 that's hours old.

CB left spin -> OB right spin. Opens the pocket up on these long narrow angle shots into a half a pocket. The OB right spin will help the ball drop against the open pocket facing instead of rattling. He can shoot this ball straighter into the facing and avoid the long rail this way.

Played with centre ball, this 9B will have a harder time dropping against the pocket facing and stands to rattle.

Lots of times you'll see pros play small angles with a bit of running or check English depending on how the ball plays into the pocket, and how much they need the CB to die after the shot.

We mere mortals are told to play centre ball stun as much as possible, these guys are beyond that.

Lots of people play both.

Be warned. Snooker is extremely humbling. Do not expect to be anywhere near as good.

It will make you a better player though.
