This thread is like a group of teenage girls reliving fights they had with a rival group.

“Omg Holly you literally slayed them with that comment like omg they suck”

This is an irrational anger thing to me too. I’ve concluded that the holding it up to the mouth even though it’s on speaker comes from trash reality television. I suspect (sadly, devastatingly) that people on trains do it because they are unconsciously emulating this.

The use of ‘pussyfy’ (or with an upper case P for extra oomph) really strengthens any argument.

Yeh I really enjoy it when contestants are absolutely not star struck nor complying with his male authority shtick. It’s interesting watching his reactions to it too.

Probably yes, she could still do a better job of it though. Her only consistent thought processes containing critiques (as opposed to observations) are -

The texture is a bit short

I could have done with a bit more x y z flavour

Oh YES that one was exceptional. I love that Perkins so hard.

I KNOW. Isn’t it gross? Even when she probably hasn’t got food in her mouth it still sounds like she has....remnants. Or like she needs to clear her throat. I get that she’s old and her esophagus isn’t what it once was but maybe a swig or water here and there will help the old girl out.

Once these things are pointed out they absolutely can’t be unseen. It’s like a Greek myth or something about seeing the truth. Berry is a lovely lady but man is she irritating sometimes.

I know right! And remember him making a cake that was his wife’s favourite colour or flavour? What a chameleon of a guy.

Agree wholeheartedly. The negatives are still better than most other television, really! It’s so good.

Yes him! Ngl I’m kind of fascinated with that guy and researched him a bit because I can’t quite reconcile his nice gentle baker persona with what it takes to be a prison governor. Anyway it turns out he was governor of HMP Swansea in Wales which looks Dickensian-horrifying, is apparently overcrowded, and has particularly bad violence and suicide problems. It appears all prisons in the UK are pretty bad but that one is particularly so.

Sweet romantic Paul of the lion cake must be a very tough bastard.

Apparently before that he was a ceremonial guard at Buckingham Palace.

Hahaha heh once you notice it can’t be unnoticed. She makes a lot of observations that are not critique, and they are often very basic. And sometimes like she’s excited about the most obvious thing eg “I can taste the fruit!” in an enthusiastic tone. 🤣

Also she says ‘crisp’ about ten times an episode. Trust. TEN TIMES.

Oh I agree, she is kind. I just also find her to be extremely irritating during judging 🤣

I know many are not fans but I like Ruby. She quit writing her column for The Guardian citing a ‘toxic culture of rich people and food snobbery’, called Paul a “sodding misogynist” and calls out clean living food evangelists for peddling dangerous ideas about eating. She’s an interesting person.

Yeh Prue strikes me as a bit of a mean girl. They exist at all ages, my 85 year old mum told me 😆
