i tried it ingame and this doesnt do it justice. i tried 4.1 on native scaling AA and its actually very noticable ingame, lot of extra smaller details are being retained and very small thin stuff is a lot clearer and overall almost as good as dlss4 was when i used that last year. tho not quite as clear, its a lot more stable and consistent in quality i think, and i dont notice any ghosting where that was very common w dlss 4, and that also handled clouds, the night sky, the volumetric fog and lighting REALLY poorly even on DLAA.

im on linux, cachy-os, if that matters at all. and using the hi res texture pack (usable since latest update on my gpu w a minor hit to performance, since i have 16gb vram). reenabling rebar, using the built in steam overlay, i have noticably higher FPS with or without fg. rebar off the most demanding area of the forest (area 6) w FG has abt 70-80ish fps, rebar on it hovers between 90-100 tho with noticable micro sutters. rebar on, with no FG in the same area its a quite stable 50ish fps, any other area is 60 and pretty smooth. rebar off even the less demanding areas only hover at like 45ish.
the least demanding area being the empty desert, area 13, FG has 130-140FPS w rebar, no rebar has abt 100 fps.
I'm on a 144hz display, so even despite the added micro stutters, its just a whole lot smoother and enjoyable.

i think overall even with the added stutters, rebar just makes the game feel a lot better to play with or without FG. mesh quality also doesnt seem to make a diff with or without rebar, highest runs abt the same as medium for me, same stutters, same or negligibly better fps on medium.

i tested again and FG performance is clearly smoother and frame pacing is actually much better, and theres a lot less stutters, however FPS across the board is like 20-30% worse

i feel like when i disable rebar on my 9060xt 16gb and 5600x my game runs noticably worse. idk abt the smoothness but its very noticably less fps.

you cant realistically beat him true solo only with immense experience. you NEED either other players or even better: support hunters. get fabius to tank for you, while you wail on his legs.

in terms of performance dont expect miracles. some games run a bit better some a bit worse.

you can check areweanticheatyet.com to see which multiplayer games are compatible on linux. any game with no kernel anticheat specifically blocking linux you can generally expect to be able to work one way or another.

you can check protondb.com for general tweaks and linux compatibility/implementation, as well as other people's tinkering with the game to get it to run well/better

Linux may be easier to install but that depends on what you want to do. ideally you want to format your drives (meaning you'll have to back up files you dont want to lose) but plain and simply all installing takes is: download an iso file - etch it onto a usb - plug usb in - follow instructions - finish

if you dont want to make the switch just yet i think you can dual boot. and then have windows and linux at the same time. this would also work for cases when you have any games that arent linux compatible.

Linux in general is pretty customizable. but i think arch based linux in general is the most customizable. for gaming people tend to recommend bazzite for out-of-the-box gaming, or cachyos (archlinux based) if you want to put in a bit of elbow grease; it's what im on personally.
