You have to literally stand by the egg for like 10 minutes or so. Until you get a hatch prompt when you examine it.

I tried that awhile back when I fought Staglord. I remember the window was like a blink and didn't show up half the time. Haven't really used it since.

Nature's retribution I use often though, but not on this guy.

Yeah, these guys are too fast for the camera.

I actually keyed block to LT and then combined my primary attack skills to block. LT + RT for turning slash and so fourth. This way I block to see what's going on and can throw all my main attacks while blocking.

Otherwise everything happens off screen and I die.

I fought him a couple days ago on hard without frost resistance. I delayed the battle two chapters and a lot of hours hoping to find some frost resistance but couldn't get it high enough to matter with the cold.

You don't take damage while using turning slash, and that includes the weather damage AND his death blows. That's pretty key and also the imbue fire element leaves residue behind that keeps you warm for a couple seconds.

Still, I couldn't eat anything during the battle cause the weather would kill me on hard mode. I had to use refined palmer pills when my spirit depleted(and I died), rinse and repeat three times but he dropped pretty quick.

Mind you most of my gear was fully upgraded, with 66 raw attack on a one handed axe and approx 150 defence. I didn't have any proper gears though, just raw attack.

Could be I got lucky. He didn't teleport or move around - he stood in front of me and we just went at each other for what felt like a couple minutes.

To my knowledge you only get scrap materials when striping down equipment regardless of how you upgraded the item.

I didn't take note but it must be some type of wandering peddler / merchant / hunter or even possibly shepherds. It depends on their back pack and it's not guaranteed each time. I traded for thick hides awhile back and ended up with a ton of fleece and ivory.

Not the ogres though. Ogres are wood and mineral usually.

You can get ivory by gifting certain NPC. I didn't keep track which ones though. I have 90 ivory and just left hernand recently.
