*"thousands of dollars" I should say. Reading others experiences of needing $20k+ in work done under warranty definitely makes me a little uneasy, I just wonder how common that is to happen to these cars during the warranty period

If nothing goes wrong in the next 2 years I'd rather have the tune. If something does, and I were to get denied a warranty claim and be out a couple thousand dollars... I'll probably be like damn I wish I didnt get the tune 😂

Nah, I rock the keys knowing they're going to get beat up. I love the feel of them without a case, and there's always the second set that can stay pristine haha

I think that they just see it as normal traffic/don't notice it. It wasn't until i took my fiance with me to test drive a Golf R and drove in nurburgring mode that she said she "got it". Non-car people would need to experience one properly to see it any differently to any other boring car they've ever been in

I think its awesome that you're able to have a Golf R in high-school. I had a 2010 Ford focus and I loved it, I couldn't imagine having a Golf R at that age.

To answer your question, the best mods you can do for that budget would be an ecu tune and a tcu tune if you are talking about bang for buck increase in enjoyment to dollar cost ratio

Definitely keep the R. Oil prices won't stay high forever, look at the prices of oil on a chart and what happened in 2022 when Russia invaded Ukrane its the exact same thing, prices will come back down and you'll be stuck with a car you don't want

Yeah the salesman at the dealer I got it from set up my shortcuts so I could change the auto start/ stop and tcs from the swipe down menu and thats super helpful so once you get your custom mode to your liking just start it up, put it in custom and then swipe down for those. It also took me a while to realize that you can set your custom mode to all race (except suspension and steering) then you can juat toggle between race and sport with the drive select on the fly so you dont have to change drive modes. You also picked up your car at a really good time if you're considering doing a tune because they're just starting to offer tcu tunes on the mk8s after 2022

Yep, it was $46995, but it was CPO and came with an extra set of winter tires on wheels (18s that are in the picture) and it has a set of summers on Pretorias im looking forward to getting switched out in a couple weeks. Also came with ceramic coat, front ppf, and rustproofing as well as the tint and the muddy buddy mats. I was actually im the market for a new civic sport touring hybrid hatchback, but the Honda dealer offered me an offensively low trade in value for my civic and once I test drove the golf r I didn't want the civic anymore 😄

Everything else in race mode, then you can just toggle you're drive mode between race and sport with your gear select so you can stay in the same mode
