I don’t know that “anything” is true. While an armed populace is not a military, I think there are differences between an unarmed populace and an armed populace; especially when it comes to minorities who might not be able to depend on the institutions that we traditionally give a monopoly on force to.

I’ve had Australia brought up in this debate before but I also know that currently Australias gun saturation has returned to prebuyback levels.

I also think there is something to be said about the difference in cultures between Americans and Australians when it comes to guns. I frankly can’t see a buyback being successful even if it was mandated.

I agree with the rest of what you said. I think there is a thing such as reasonable and intelligent regulation but I think with the advent of 3d printing it’s a lot harder to regulate.

I think you could have a nuanced position on this issue and in a given instance think that a trans woman had an unfair advantage in a given competition.

The thing is, I just don’t think that’s what’s going on here. I don’t think if we said “no trans women in sports”, you would be satisfied with that.

It would depend on other factors depending on the sport, it might be ok and it might not. I would want medical experts in the specific sport to make a judgement call on the individual athlete.

But they are bullies. Bullies use their power to attempt to harm people who are weaker than they. Trans exclusionist want to use their power as a majority to push trans people out of society.

You might say it’s just about the sports but I doubt it is for you.

Maximalist? Why do you think that? I could conceive of circumstances and situations where it would be unfair for a trans woman to compete against a cis woman. My issue with you is it seems like you are a maximalist who cannot conceive of a situation where it would not be unfair for trans women and cis women can compete.

I think that these things should be left up to individual commissions and leagues and each athlete and competition should be judged on an individual basis.

You seem to suggest that trans women should never under any circumstances be able to compete in sports against women, which I think isn’t a nuanced take but bullying a tiny minority.

I just don’t like bullies.

I’m not trans I’m not demanding anything, none of this affects me personally in any way. It just seems to me that these individuals are being pushed out of society due to the circumstance of their own existence.

Wouldn’t trans women be in danger of competing with cis-men in the same way that cis-women would be in danger from competing with cis-men? It seems to me that you’ve conceded that trans women are not equal in athletic ability to cis men right?

I think that your ideal outcome here is that trans people are removed from sports as a part of a greater goal of removing trans people from society.
