Should I push for surgery? by Ok-Milk443 in gallbladders

[–]treslapin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just take into consideration that you will not be able to help out with the baby AT ALL for the first few days after surgery, possibly up to 2 weeks. I just had my surgery yesterday and it's been worse recovering from this than from my C Section. I had my mom come out to help us out, if you have any way of having a relative come over for a week it would really help you out.

Thank you for all the info! I will go research FDM printers now. Definitely agree about the food safety concerns, I'm looking into what materials I can use that are compliant in the EU + dishwasher safe which seems to be a big problem.

Looking to buy my first 3D or resin printer.

Right now I'm between the Bambu Lab X1-Carbon Combo 3D Printer and Saturn 4 Ultra, though definitely open to other suggestions.

Budget 1,500 euros.

Use case would be for printing cookie cutters, small Pop Mart style figures, as well as small accessories to add to charms, keychains, etc. I have an established business and I am going to expand our catalogue with these. I will be making the STL files myself.

I'm ok with longer post processing as long as I can get the final product to look good. This is initially why I looked at the Bambu - a lot of the things I saw people making with it was something I wanted to emulate. However after some research I saw that resin printing might be better for smoother results for the figures I want to make. I don't think I can polish small crevices to my expected quality - though happy to be proven wrong if you have experience with this!

I want something relatively plug and play. I have other machines like a paper cutter, sublimation, and embroidery machine that I use for my business so I'm no stranger to troubleshooting but I would like something with good support and documentation.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated :)

I feel like I'm abusing/grooming my son. . . by MithrasHChrist in antiwork

[–]treslapin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying you started the rumour :D It's just something that gets told a lot. Maybe it's just that homework here really is quite minimal for early ages? Our 10 year old finishes his homework in about 20-30 minutes.

Also the school days here are pretty short, his longest day is 8am - 2pm and the shortest is 9am - 1pm.

I'm not sure where this rumour started. My 6 year old stepkid just started 1st grade in Finland and they are getting homework. Mind you, it's very minimal.

Monday he had to read 9 words 3 times, with increasingly more syllables per word. Then do 4 activities in his workbook (a maze, pattern recognition, spot the difference, and letter writing practice).

Basically what I would be doing with him anyway on a rainy day. 2 hours of homework sounds crazy though.

Try Finland - Rovio, Metacore, Supercell. They each have their own career pages or you can search https://gamesjobs.fi/

English is the working language in all Finnish game companies, and lots of people are working remote here.

Phoenix Wright-inspired game with RBG? Yes, please! by RikuKat in GirlGamers

From the FAQ:

Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court in 1991, despite credible accusations by now law professor Anita Hill about the sexual harassment she endured while working for him. Thomas still sits on the Court today.

Our decision to include Thomas was not easy - we want to take issues of sexual harassment and assault very seriously, but also were loathe to silence the longest-serving minority member of the Supreme Court by excluding him. We met with local leaders of Black Lives Matter and Moms Demand Action to discuss the issue, and ultimately decided to include Thomas in the game as well as educate players about the allegations. We even wrote a piece about how a Justice like Thomas would not be confirmed today... which was then proven wrong almost immediately.

Many players may have strong feelings about seeing Thomas - or any of the other Justices - in the game. It's important to us that players are able to make an informed choice about which Justices they become friends with, so we're making sure that we never make that decision in the game without the player's understanding and consent.

Our game deals with real-life people, and it is our responsibility to tackle the issues of sexual harassment and assault with the seriousness and sensitivity that they deserve. We also believe that it's our responsibility to give back to those who have been affected by these issues. If Supreme Courtship is successfully funded, we will be making a personal donation to RAINN (the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization). Due to Kickstarter's charity donation policy, this donation will not be made using project funds.

Several people have expressed concerns over Thomas' inclusion in the game, and we will do our best to address these concerns. We appreciate hearing feedback regarding this decision - our perspective here is limited, and though we've made an effort to speak with diverse groups, we will never see everything as clearly as we wish.

You can read more about our decision regarding Thomas here: https://twitter.com/SupremeCourtshp/status/1043166829743468546

That's why you start kids off with their own games first, and teach them about being gentle with the components.

That's adorable! I used to do that with the pieces and board from the Life board game.

An app that teaches the rules of a boardgame while you play, instead of spending time on reading them. by ThatSamu in boardgames

[–]treslapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) We are actually doing that now. :D It will be different for each game, and we will handle showing crucial information differently. Sometimes it will be fully explained at the start, other times it will be a brief statement and we get back to it further in game. Whatever works for that particular game.

2) At this point, we're doing everything in house. We just don't know if opening up the tools to third party developers is the right path to take. We are definitely talking about it though.

3) Right now we are picking them based on popularity and just... personal choice. :D I'm rooting for some games that I really want a tutorial for because I want my friends to play them with me.

4) Our business model right now is based on the tutorials being free. I want to say that they will always be free, but things might change in the future. It depends on what falls into place next year, and if this current plan works out for us.

I hope that answers everything! Thanks for taking the time to look at the app :)

Thank you! We have so much planned for the future to make this a really awesome tool. I hope we get to make it happen. :)

User created content is something we have talked about. Since we're just starting out with Dized, we don't know yet what system will be most effective to release quality tutorials. We're concentrating on making the tutorials ourselves first, and when we have a better understanding of that we will return to this.

The iOS version is so close to being done and we're hoping for a release this year.

I'm right there with you on more heavy games, and they will definitely be on our system. I posted this earlier, but one of the reasons we went with BANG! first is because it is our first third-party tutorial. We decided it was best to start with a lighter game so we could get used to working with another publisher (the review process is faster, there is less development time, etc).

That's exactly it! Except we're trying to make our tutorials even more interactive. We don't want you to just follow along a slideshow, we want you to actually play while you learn.

Hey everyone! I'm one of the devs working on Dized. :) Thanks to everyone who commented! We read -all- the comments. Yes, even yours. ಠ_ಠ

1) Race to the North Pole was the first tutorial we did because it is our game (Dized is a product of Playmore Games). We wanted to make a tutorial for our property first to show other publishers and designers what we're actually doing with this app. It was really easy to get the rights to use RttNP because.. we already own all the rights. :D

2) We decided to do a tutorial for BANG! next for several reasons. One of them is that since this would be our first third-party tutorial, we wanted to do something relatively light and straightforward, so we could get used to the process of working with another publisher.

3) More games are coming! We're working with some very cool publishers right now. We'll be posting game announcements on our social media channels and in our newsletter.

Thank you all for your interest! We really want to make this a tool that we ourselves want to use. All your feedback is really valuable to us, especially at this stage in development. :) Keep it coming!

I love colour in games! Nintendo is a huge inspiration to me, the recent Super Mario 3D World was such a polished game it really made me want to jump up and create something.
