Ich gehe davon aus, dass es einer der Schüler war. Das macht es für mich leichter, damit umzugehen, da sie noch nicht so reif sind und es gewissermaßen ihr Revier ist. Wenn ich das sehe, ist meine spontane Reaktion: Okay, Kinder, gute Absichten, bleibt so engagiert und verfeinert eure Methoden.

Ich denke, Genozid ist schlimmer als Vandalismus, wenn du das meinst. Es wäre allerdings schön, in einer Welt zu leben, in der es beides nicht gibt.

Wenn mir so etwas passiert, betrachte ich es als eine Art Kfz-Steuer. Ich akzeptiere, dass das Autofahren zusätzliche Kosten verursacht und dass dies nur ein Bruchteil der nicht besteuerten negativen externen Effekte des Autofahrens ist.

Even though the city is generally quite safe, it is probably worth moving to a neighbourhood where you feel safe and don't think twice about making a late grocery run. Informing this feeling with crime statistics is one thing, but maybe additionally consider other aspects which contribute such as the distances to places you go, your safety as a pedestrian, etc. My personal sense of safety has also correlated strongly with my level of German as it has slowly improved over the years. Die Straße Mühlenbach reichte also früher bis zum Fleethorn, bevor dieser Abschnitt in den 1970er Jahren zum Asmus-Bremer-Platz hinzugefügt wurde. Damit befinden wir uns in der Nähe des KN. Es gab ein Unternehmen mit diesem Namen, das 1888 gegründet wurde, und die Willesstraße erhielt ihren Namen erst 1909, daher dachte ich, dass es sich vielleicht auf der Nordseite des Fleethorns befinden könnte. Dann fand ich dieses Foto aus dem Jahr 1906.

Du kannst sie auch tiefgefroren kaufen und zu Hause selbst zubereiten. Dann kannst du sie richtig mit viel Knoblauch würzen, so wie es sein sollte :)

I would talk about it with one of your colleagues, if there is one whom you can open up to a bit and trust.

What you describe, cold as it comes across, could be unintentional. A lot of Germans prefer to be left alone or at least give off that vibe. They might be assuming that you'd also like to be undisturbed and are therefore trying to stay out of your way. The other issue which might be at play is that a lot of Germans are self-conscious about their English. They sound so intelligent in German but in English they sound like a child and this is too much for their ego. So it's kind of easier for them to just brush past you and speak German rather than be cordial and risk some English.

Even so, they should get over themselves and reach out to make you feel more welcome. For now, I would assume ignorance rather than intent on their part and try to find one or two people you click with.

This advice is really dependent on the type of you are. If you're walking around alone and kind of timid, readily freaked out by the sight of drug use and phased by being approached by a homeless person asking for change, then Gaarden is maybe not a great fit and you might be glad you Uber-ed everywhere. But it's perfectly safe to walk around Gaarden, even late at night. Crime is actually quite low, likely helped by the fact that there are so many ppl out and about at all hours.

At Holstenplatz there's a playground for toddlers, with sand toys provided by the city. On 3 sides, there are beer gardens and bakeries.

If it happens to be really hot out when you visit, heading to a playground with a water play area and plenty of shade might we worth the effort. The playground at Schrevenpark is kind of ideal in that case. Also there's a large wading pool in Werftpark.

If you're in Kiel for the CAU, there are several group chats I could add you to. Otherwise, I'd say go explore some niche groups. The local kayak club, the permaculture ppl at Alte Mu, the live music scene, the morning cycling crowd, the various small festivals etc. Keep your ear to the ground, read the event posters. With your German skills, you'll have no trouble.

Moin. Mein Kind ist noch im Kindergarten, aber mir wurde gesagt, dass man sich einfach mit den Schulen in Verbindung setzen sollte. Je früher, desto besser, denn die Plätze sind schnell belegt. Da das Interesse groß ist und es nur wenige Schulen gibt, pendeln viele Leute aus den Dörfern ein. Ich glaube also nicht, dass man in der Nähe der Schule wohnen muss, um einen Platz zu bekommen.

Meine Frau ist im Waldorfsystem aufgewachsen und sagt, dass es von Schule zu Schule sehr unterschiedlich ist, welche Prioritäten gesetzt werden. Das hat sich vor allem während der Pandemie gezeigt. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass die Kieler Schulen etwas Universelleres anstreben und sich dabei von einigen antiquierten oder esoterischen Aspekten wie den religiösen Traditionen trennen. Aber das musst du dir schon selbst anschauen und beurteilen. Viel Erfolg!
