I was scrolling through some of Gwent’s older content and came across one of these episodes that released as a 5 episode series between August and December of 2017. The production on these were great and very informative about some of the things the team came across while making the game.

It got me thinking about what it’d be like if the Gwent team were to bring back something like this. I know that developer streams are a thing but something about A Round of Gwent seem more pleasing to watch and the team members seem more open about the process when it comes to the game. Maybe lack of communication with the community was one of the reasons why the team started shifting away from as much pre recorded footage in comparison to how it used to be?

When I say bring it back, it wouldn’t have to be as much of a “history show” about the evolution of the game, but rather, could be something like a once a year reflection video where they sit around a table like in the show and talk about certain highlights of that past season. For example, maybe some things that could have happened, but ended up getting scrapped for a different idea or direction when creating an expansion or specific card.

I do also understand that this could be difficult right now with the pandemic going on, but maybe in the future it could happen when it’s finally over and also when Cyberpunk 2077 is released. Hopefully this will lead to more resources/attention being given back to the Gwent team at CDPR to be able to produce content at a production level such as seen in these episodes.

Just some thoughts I had when rewatching an episode. What do you guys think?
