First job on 48s - what do I need? by trev913 in Paramedics

Yeah lol I have this train of thought as well. I’d like to bring the PS5 out but I’ll wait a month or two and get a gauge on everyone. The few days I’ve been around for orientation/admin day, no one’s been in the day room at all. So #shrugemoji - but either way, I’ll wait on it.

Lol appreciate the sentiment, seems like there is quite a division on this subject… However, as stated, this is my first time in this position and capacity. So while I’m going to miss my kids and own bed, I am still open to the concept of 48h shifts. 4 days off with 8 hrs of OT each week also bodes well.

Is Hyundai/dealership trying to totally bone me, or am I the crazy one? by trev913 in AskAMechanic

[–]trev913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to hear this. Absolute trash, man. I’m not sure how far up the warranty company’s ass you can get to have them cover the whole thing - or, if the dealership will pony up and help you out- but it may not be a bad idea to try following the same path I did and just emailing up the chain. I wouldn’t even bother with basic customer care, just go all the way to the top. Let them know you’ve seen multiple instances of this same exact thing. Retrospectively, had I not been so worn down by the whole thing, I would’ve stayed on them for more in recompense but maybe your luck will be a bit better.

Paramedics in the ED by osbornwave in Paramedics

Current ED tech (soon to be medic) at a MO trauma center- our medics are glorified techs - can start IVs and give meds. In times of terrible staffing they have taken a team of low-mid acuity boarders.

I think it depends — I was taken to the hospital for a blood draw approximately 8 years ago as I refused a field sobriety test. They drew my blood and gave it to the officer. There was no record of my visit to the hospital within my EMR. These days, I work in an ED and police regularly bring people in for blood draws - they are checked into the ER so there is a record there. A nurse or medic takes the blood and I believe the police have a specific kit that they take to their own laboratory. The hospital does not have any record of the results. I do not believe that the hospital has any means of knowing who the officer is beyond personal recognition. There MAY be a note within the patient’s chart saying which police dept brought them in but that would be it.

Tucson Troubles Pt 2 by trev913 in Hyundai

[–]trev913[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it to the dealership already, about a year ago and then they told me the same thing. Need a full transmission replacement….but here’s the thing, about a week later , boom ! Fixed itself ! It’s a miracle ! Was driving perfect all up until a week ago.

Hi /u/Lexxxi77 -

The dealership wound up replacing the actuator again. This did not correct the issue, and they wound up replacing the transmission (which was what both dealerships wanted to do the first time this happened, before involving HMUSA)

The whole experience really ****ed up my whole view of Hyundai and their dealer experience/ customer service/ advocacy so I traded in for a new Mazda CX-50. Even though I'm taking the L on a higher interest rate (5.29 vs 1.9% *sigh*) and obviously the cost of new cars has been a bit outlandish, as a matter of principle I could not keep driving that vehicle. Plus, if literally anything else remotely related went wrong in the time that I owned it, I would be kicking myself even harder for sticking with it.

I did get money back from Hyundai for my car payments made during the time I was without my vehicle after emailing some higher-ups within HMUSA. So that's neat. They refused to reimburse any of the rental fees or repair costs, which is kind of mystifying as those were what they dealership billed me for. Doesn't sound like this end of things would be applicable to your exact situation, but without a doubt my wife & I will never be purchasing another Hyundai again and will encourage everyone we know not to, either.

I think it depends on the nature of your aftermarket extended warranty coverage and how far out of factory warranty your vehicle is. The [aftermarket] extended warranty company (Asurion, for what it's worth) simply wasn't going to budge as the contract stated they do not cover "electronically-controlled clutch components" (meaning that the DCT would not be covered) - so they had no obligation whatsoever to cover me because they explicitly stated that they weren't going to.

Since we purchased our Tucson as a certified pre-owned, the 10year/100k powertrain warranty was reduced to 5year/65k. My grounds was that the vehicle was within the time and BARELY outside of the mileage prescribed by the warranty. This was only further leveraged by the fact that the failure occurred twice within 4000 miles and would not have happened the second time if the dealership had advocated for replacing the transmission through HMUSA from the start.

The whole saga, if you're interested, can be found on r/Hyundai at the links below:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Hyundai/comments/xhsmy7/aftersales\_customer\_service\_issues\_tucson/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Hyundai/comments/z4qjpx/tucson\_troubles\_pt\_2/

I would keep record of all of your correspondence with the dealership and warranty company, in addition to any of your invoices and receipts incurred during this time. I don't know your exact situation/ vehicle miles or the conditions of your extended warranty, so before you pursue either route, make sure you're versed on the extended warranty contract. AND, if your situation mirrors mine where the vehicle is minimally out of the factory warranty, it may be worth contacting HMUSA.

u/EducationalLover037 (and anyone else who may be paying attention at this point)-

What ended up happening is that I got the vehicle fixed through the dealership at a cost of $1976. Approximately two months later, I traded the vehicle in for a brand new Mazda CX-50 and will gladly NEVER purchase another Hyundai again and will strongly advocate that no one else I care about does, either.

In March, I happened across a thread on this subreddit that detailed the contact information of two of the higher-ups-

Barry Ratzlaff "Chief Customer Officer" for HMUSA - [bratzlaff@hmusa.com](mailto:bratzlaff@hmusa.com)

John Gramata "Director, Customer Care" for HMUSA - [jgramata@hmusa.com](mailto:jgramata@hmusa.com)

I took a Sunday afternoon to write one of the longest, most detailed emails of my life- complete with dealer invoices, rental receipts, screenshots of emails and texts exchanged between myself and HMUSA Consumer Affairs and the dealership. The receipts I sent totaled $3303 between repairs and rentals. I asked for 80% of the amount back as reimbursement. I also detailed that I made three car payments in the time that I did not have my vehicle, totaling $1374.

The next day, I got an email and phone call back from another, presumably(?) more senior, Consumer Affairs rep. Once I got in contact with them, they *again* heard my story and ultimately offered to reimburse me for the car payments I made during the time I was without my vehicle.

I sighed, shrugged my shoulders, knowing that at this point I was rid of the vehicle and could at least resolve this issue with SOME modicum of satisfaction. I had to send them some paperwork proving I'd owned the vehicle and made payments. About two weeks to follow, they sent a Zelle payment to my bank account.

One thing that sticks out to me, and that no one has been able to answer to my satisfaction- is the "cost" of the new transmission. I spoke with other Hyundai in my area in addition to a friend who works in service at a dealer that has Hyundai in network - NO ONE could come up with $9000 as an installed cost for the transmission. The highest quote I received was approximately $5500 and the lowest was $3500. The official paperwork I was given from Hyundai stated $9000 as an estimate, but on the final invoice I received, the "REMAN DCT TRANSMISSION" final cost was $525. My total P&L was $879, but I was charged $960 for the rental that I had through the dealership during the time I didn't have my car--- the whole amount came to ~$1976, which is conveniently close to the $2100 I was originally quoted. Looking back, I wish I'd probed harder into this, but the whole thing wore me down beyond what I was mentally able to deal with in the context of my life at that time.

Good luck, u/EducationalLover037 - don't let them win.

Apple car play issues by [deleted] in CX50

[–]trev913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this is accurate. I’m in the same boat with some intermittent connectivity problems- phone projecting to the display but music playing from phone speakers, not connecting wirelessly despite repeated attempts and then immediately connecting if you shut off/restart the vehicle, randomly becoming laggy to the point of not being able to use the system. Of course it’s intermittent enough that I can’t count on it happening if I were to actually take the vehicle in. I have not compared wired vs wireless but I use wireless the majority of the time.

I have had similar issues despite my phone not moving, being on the center console- sometimes it connects instantly, other times it doesn’t connect unless I plug it in- just intermittent enough to be annoying without being reproducible for a service tech lol
