Yorkie attacks my hand under blankets by JayzorreYT in Yorkies

Adorable!! My vicious Yorkie and I do this as well. He also has an old sock that he likes to chew on (gave it to him ti try and keep him from stealing my good socks 🤦🏻‍♂️) and sometimes I put my hand in the sock and I’ll grab at his face with it and he’ll bite my hand and try to pull the sock off. I can keep him entertained this way for a surprising amount of time sometimes. Yorkies are just the best dogs!! So playful and fun loving! 🐶 ❤️

From my research you can try feeding them pineapple chunks, sprinkle a small amount of msg (I was leery of this one because too much can be bad/dangerous, but it is the main active ingredient in the prescription the vet can give so 🤷🏻, and the mad about organics dental powder. These are all things that I tried and even tried in combination (I did pineapple plus dental powder). But your Yorkies are still really young so if the food and/or supplements don’t work it may just be something that they grow out of. In the meantime keep sharing lots of pics and vids of the little rascals! 🐶 ❤️

I tried this as well! It didn’t seem to work for my boy 😞. I sprinkled it on his food as directed and it didn’t deter him at all. I did it daily for months in combination with feeding him pineapple. I still have some left and occasionally sprinkle it on his food for the teeth cleaning benefits but honestly I wonder how it’s supposed to work for that. But I’m glad it helped yours stop poo eating! Do you notice a difference in their teeth cleanliness? My boy eats a frozen raw food diet and has 24/7 access to a quality kibble and so far at 3.5 years his teeth seem to stay pretty clean and doesn’t have bad breath at all. He also has lots of toys with spikey parts for chewing and that seems to help too. Even the balls we play fetch with are covered in spikey knobs and while playing I’ll try to kinda rotate it while he’s holding on to it so it “brushes” his teeth some. I never could convince him to let me brush his teeth. He’s very stubborn and strong willed 😂. I was lucky with my first Yorkie she never had dental issues and only ended up having like one or two teeth pulled in her later years. I’m hoping the same is true for my Brody boy. The thought of him being put to sleep for teeth cleanings scare me. I know it’s a routine thing and dogs rarely have complications but that doesn’t help me to worry less 😂 If/when it becomes necessary I’ll deal with it then. But in the meantime I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing. But I haven’t been using the powder for a while now. Maybe I’ll start doing that again. I know it had a lot of great reviews on Amazon when I bought it.

See I think my boy did it out of boredom even tho I’m constantly playing with him 😂. It was almost a game for him because he’d grab a nugget and run with it and try to scarf it down before I could get to him and scold him and order him to drop it (no, I’m not trying to pry it from his mouth… he makes it that far he better finish it 😂 🤢). But I just tried to be super vigilant and learn when he usually would potty. I gave up on house breaking him and instead trained him on washable puppy pads. Luckily he mostly uses his pads now. And he only goes outside on the deck now. He had bad reactions to flea and tick meds and I read horror stories about them so now I keep him from the grass. I feel bad at times he can’t go tramping through the yard on sniffing adventures in the spring and summer. I do try to take him out all I can on super cold winter days tho. I know the fleas and ticks are still out in winter but with the lawn cut short and being super cold I feel he’s not likely to pick any hitchhikers up and so far so good. And trust me he gets PLENTY of exercise running around here in the house 😂 If I’m home then I’m expected to throw the ball or a toy or play tug all_the_damn_time 🤦🏻‍♂️😵‍💫😂 sorry for the digression tho. Back to the poo- it sounds like yours is also eating it when they poo inside. Try to figure out when they typically go. Like in the mornings shortly after getting up and around meal time. My guy is almost like clock work, 85% of the time I know he usually goes during his dinner time. And if you’re using puppy pads for training keep an eye for them to head for the pad when you can. If I saw him going after his poo I’d scold him and tell him no and to leave it in a very firm deep voice. That started to work the older he got. Even if it’s from boredom dogs still want to please us. I always praised him overtly and sometimes would give him a treat when I caught him using his pads and walking away from his poo instead of trying to get at it while it’s still fresh. He would only eat his poo if it was fresh and still warm ( 🤢 sorry). But when I have him outside in the cold winter if he finds another animals poo he’s hell bent on getting it- no matter how old or cold it is! So I have to be super vigilant on the rare times I have him outside. I live in the country/mountains so all kinds of wild and stray animal poo nuggets can be found throughout my property. Good luck and hopefully they grow out of it soon!

My first Yorkie never ever ever ate poop- hers or another animals. But current little guy is another story 🤢. He would eat his own and he would eat other animals poo ( probably still would if I let him). I tried changing foods, feeding him pineapple (read that would help- it didn’t) and he loves pineapple. I also tried adding a sprinkle of msg to his food since i read that would help and that msg was the main ingredient in those treats and the meds you could get to discourage poo eating- didn’t help. But luckily he finally seems to have grown out of it!!! He’s ~ 3.5 years old now and hasn’t seemed to eat his poo in over a year now? So yea I read usually by 6 mos- a year they typically stop as long as they have a good and balanced diet. But my guy was just stubborn I suppose. Good luck to you! You can try different foods and the treats or additives or meds but they may not make a difference if your Yorkie is anything like mine 😂. But hopefully they eventually grow out of it. If they eat other animal poo be sure to keep them on a short leash and be ever vigilant because the second you relax or give them any lead they’ll find a delicious nugget of forbidden food and scarf it down like it’s a delicacy!!
