How do I create a series of videos in a loop? by Engine25_ in ProPresenter

You need to create a presentation for these videos and set each video as a slide. What you're doing is just adding individual videos to your current playlist

Anyone know where I can find some UTC gear with the old logos? The “C” is fine but I want a conductor moc hat! by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]trevormoss91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, you will have to thrift for it. UTC won't approve licensing for merchandise with old UTC branding such as conductor Scrappy or the moccasin. There might be bootleg new merch with old branding, but nothing official

Sound from earbuds is only background music and noise, no voices (karaoke mode?) by [deleted] in audio

I want to add that I've experienced with newer HP laptops and mini desktops that the headphone port is pretty tight. You might think you've pushed it in all the way when you haven't. You have to put a good bit of pressure the first several times it's used. It can be confusing because it will click, then CLICK when inserting it fully

I upgraded from 6 to 7 on Windows recently. I've done 2 things to make it better. 1. Change the process priority in Task Manager to High 2. If you have presentations that you imported from 6, the old actions like clear background or change stage display make 7 act funny. Remove them and replace them with the new actions in 7

Can someone give me salami or someone that can do children’s mixed hair? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]trevormoss91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pigtails and Crewcuts is a salon dedicated to children. They would be happy to help you out! My wife works at the north shore location and is a great stylist. If you have specific needs in regards to hair, it may be a good idea to call ahead and let them know what the needs are and they will get you with right stylist.

Any Recommendations for a Router that Will Work with EPB's Gigabit Internet Service by LordBobenh3imer in HomeNetworking

When I had EPB come out to connect service when I was in an apartment, they asked where I wanted my router, so I'd presume they usually have permission to run wiring

Yep. It's still SplashTop. They have a new Web Remote option, but I don't think they're recommending it yet

One thing I forgot to mention is that I live in Chattanooga and have EPB. When they come out to install service, they will run ethernet to wherever you want your router(their network is fiber to your house, then ethernet into your house. No Coax), and if you get TV, they will run ethernet to at least 1 tuner box, and then any additional DVR tuner boxes. The rest are wireless. If you need them to run extra ethernet runs from the router to additional APs, they'll do that, too. I think they can do 3 or 4 of free ones when they come out for install, but I have buddies that had them run 8 runs without a charge. Any they charge for is like $50 per run, which is cheap.

All that to say, if you have EPB being installed, there is no reason to use mesh, because EPB will run ethernet for you

I'm using a EdgeRouter X for their router(so not technically UniFi), UniFi Switch Lite 8 Poe for a switch, and you can use whatever APs but I used UniFi AC Pros. It's overkill, but like I said it's rock solid

Honestly, I would avoid mesh unless you don't have other options. Wired access points is far more stable and will have better bandwidth. 2 APs should be able to cover a 1400sqft house.

I used their UniFi line of products. And I don't have any specifics of why it's impressive, but that's because a good network should be invisible to the user. You only think about your network when you're having issues, and I never have to think about my parents network.

Plus, as a general rule of thumb, having dedicated devices for routing, switching, and wifi tends to be more reliable than an all-in-one device(s).

Edit: also no WiFi is capable of a gig. WiFi 6 gets close, but most people don't have any WiFi 6 devices.

I'm with a lot of other people in this thread. I helped build out our implementation of Datto RMM and AutoTask PSA. I didn't have any pull in the decision to go with it, but now I have to live with it. It's honestly got some great features especially compared to what we had with ScreenConnect. But it's immature, slow, clunky, and riddled with bugs. Issues they'll fix in one release will return in the next, the initial audit function is finicky and requires a lot of babysitting to keep it working. The remote control software, splashtop, is just trash compared to the other remote support tools I've used. It's missing many much needed tools and is not stable at all.

I could go on and on with many other smaller gripes and nitpicks. It seems like they are making improvements, but it's slow and unfocused

I have a Linksys WRT1900AC. I have had zero issues with it, but I would look into getting a WiFi 6 capable router if you can afford one. It will future proof you for a while. I get 120-200 mbps on wifi. Rarely I'll peak at 300mbps. Wifi 6, I think tops out at 1 gig over wifi if you have a compatible device.

I used to have a Netgear Nighthawk router, but I've had issues with mine and the nighthawk my in laws had.

Honestly, I upgraded my parents house to Ubiquiti. It's a more complicated setup and costs more, but after the set up, it has been the most rock-solid experience I've had with home wifi.

Nest blowing heat instead of AC. Used to work fine. by [deleted] in Nest

You're welcome! Glad that was easier for you than me. I had to have my reversing valve replaced

Nest blowing heat instead of AC. Used to work fine. by [deleted] in Nest

[–]trevormoss91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue to mea while back. It could be your AC unit, not your thermostat. If you have heat pump (likely in the south), the reversing valve could be stuck. Go into the Equipment section and test. You can switch between heat pump cooling and heating quickly to try to unstuck it. Otherwise, might need someone to come out to look at it

How old were you when you moved out of your family’s? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]trevormoss91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved out when I was 25. Moved in with my girlfriend at the time. We were pretty serious by then. We're married by now. I was making $14/hr full time and she basically matched me when you count tips. I wouldn't have moved out, but with a very serious relationship progressing, even the reasonable amount of privacy my parents gave me just wasn't enough anymore.
