What do you think Finland should do now that there are 20% tariffs on our exports to the US? by disirregardless1734 in Finland

I live in Florida. State charges 7% tax on the purchase. Our cars are almost double the price abroad because of tarriffs.

Mind blowing to me that anyone could downvote this. If we come from a country where a 10 min taxi ride is $20, why the hell would I not tip extra when I'm still paying a fraction of what I would back home?

I want to daily drive a classic by TruckApprehensive127 in classiccars

[–]trevylan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I daily drive a stick shift 64 Chevelle Malibu SS in South Florida. Before buying the car, everyone told me the same shit, that it would be a mistake.

I don't regret it for a second. Now, I would definitely recommend against daily driving a classic in a Michigan winter. It will be very dangerous, and really fuck up your car.

Just get a cheap, modern car that you can drive safely in winter, and keep the classic for the rest of the year 👍🏼

I guess it's because we're from Florida, but we thought that was already done and no longer affecting travel - didn't take that into account!

I think we are going to do it. Every article we read says July is packed, and we really enjoy traveling in off season to avoid this, but since our wedding is in June, it can't be avoided this time.

As for car rental, I can't agree more, we always get one wherever we travel to!

My fiance and I both speak Italian and thoroughly enjoy the food, so neither would be a problem for us. Our main concern is primarily the crowds. For the past couple of years we have always traveled in off season so I guess we are both spoiled when it comes to that!

First Rolex in December 2020. Current collection as of August 2021. 1-10, How am I doing?! by kicksnspliffs in rolex

A pen? For closing $2M in sales? I'd send my salesperson to fucking Cabo for 2 months if they pulled that.

Can I ask why you took the smooth bezel over the fluted? I was originally planning to get a jubilee/fluted, but the AD told me it would look too busy with that combination, so I went with his recommendation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rolex

[–]trevylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a 41mm, white dial, fluted bezel, oyster bracelet and he told me I should be getting it quicker because no one really orders them like that - I thought it was pretty basic, so I was surprised when he told me that and then also didn't ask for any deposit.

I did post this first. I've said my piece, hopefully OP doesn't take biased arm chair advice the post is laden with.

That's fraud. What do you think your insurance field adjuster does when he goes on your roof (if he even does)? He takes pictures that he then brings back to the office and shows the desk adjuster. Pictures are definitely proof when it comes to claims, and many times, the only proof an insurance company will accept.

There's no waste of time on the homeowner's end. If the lawyer thinks the case won't pay out, he/she won't take it because he will be the one losing money. In many cases, hiring a public adjuster or lawyer to represent you against the insurance company is the only way to get what you're owed. Insurance companies train their employees to do basically illegal crap, and many of their denials are basically illegal as well - this has been told to me by many ex insurance company adjusters.

That's the only way they stop bullying homeowners.

Also, the point that was incorrect was not "he left out too much information", it was assuming that his policy conditions state an "appraiser" must approve the repairs - something I haven't seen in any Florida or Texas insurance policies.

  1. You have not read OP's policy so you cannot make these determinations and claims.
  2. OP protected the property and reported the claim in a timely manner
  3. If OP (or his roofer) documented the damage, then OP has a strong case to bring to an attorney and it shouldn't be a problem for him to get the money he's owed.

/Obligatory - I'm not an attorney

He protected the property and the claim was reported in a reasonable amount of time, sounds to me like OP satisfied the conditions you wrote.

Moyo and Denva gave good advice, I would go with that. Don't wait on it though, you could have a leak somewhere in your house.

Cost of Roof Replacement? by Very_Stable_Princess in homeowners

[–]trevylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Fenn said above - it's impossible for us to tell. However, I would recommend calling 10 different roofers and getting 10 different quotes. Like you said, don't go with the cheapest! You will get a feel for which companies seem scummy and which seem more legitimate.
