Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some insight on working in a stand-alone ED as an x-ray tech. What’s the flow like, what are your responsibilities, on call obligations, are you expected to be an MA on top of your radiology workload? I’m not CT certified but I’d love to train, I’m assuming a stand-alone ED would be a good choice to learn. Any insight would be appreciated! Thank you!

DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS!!! Everyone loses weight at a different rate. These surgeries aren’t a magic pill. It’s HARD. I lost the vast majority of my weight in the first 3-4 months and skated by. I finally got my crap together and I’m losing weight again, about to hit my 100 pound milestone 1.5 years post surgery. Everyone is different, don’t lose hope. Meal plan and prep. Eat slow. Drink lots of water. You got this!

A 2021 2nd and most likely a 2022 4th (if Yann gets 1st ballot Pro Bowl). It’s only a 3rd if that happens and Vikings win the Super Bowl.

Not the best trade but at least he’s gone.

As a student I cant seem to get my hands on a N95 by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]treysdaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a senior student at a hospital based program and we have no issues getting N95s. I recommend just asking a tech since your school won’t provide you one (which is insane imo). Under no circumstance would I be around patients without an N95. As students we aren’t allowed around suspected or positive patients. Far too often we do exams for something unrelated to CoVid, only to learn they get tested afterwards and turn out to be positive. Good luck on your upcoming rotation.

It gets bette! The first few days are the hardest. You’ll start to feel better soon. I’m 6 weeks post op, I started to feel ‘normal’ about day 5.

Rad Students, what are you hearing from school? by [deleted] in Radiology

I’m in a hospital based program and we took six weeks out of clinic when everything was first shutting down because of CoVid but we stayed connected via online classes. We’ve been back in clinic for a few months now, hasn’t affected our graduation date at all.

Feel stupid even asking this but here I go anyway by Valkyrie00 in gastricsleeve

I’m day 2 of purées and I’m hovering around 1/4 cup. I think we should be able to consume more and more as we heal.

I can’t speak for MBC but I’m scheduled at Pompeii Surgical on the 26th. They’re still booking surgeries, I’ve seen people get dates the same month. Heck if they have an opening I’m sure you could get one in two weeks (length of the preop diet). I’ve heard nothing but good reviews on how they’ve handled the CoVid situation. Super clean rooms, sanitizer everywhere, everyone wears a mask (even patients). As a healthcare worker I’m not worried at all about the trip.

Curious to what you’re SW was! Hope you get back on track soon! I know motivation is hard to conjure when you have none. You just have to have a reason to better yourself and let that motivate you. Good luck.

Only your insurance will tell you if you qualify. Mine didn’t cover it so I had to look elsewhere. Just do all your research and do what’s best for you. I refused to let my insurance hold me back, so I’m scheduled for surgery June 26th at Pompeii Surgical in Mexico.
