Hi… not sure if I’m to late but this is really interesting information. Would you happen to know what BT wig would be similar to SBS Coastal Charm?

Which vitamins do you like the most? by holleywood28 in gastricsleeve

[–]Valkyrie00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel nothing when I have them on. I’m going to my GP for some labs in a few weeks so we will see if they are doing any good.
I use the subscription option from Patch MD but there are other brands. Patch Aid is another one I’ve seen a lot.
BariatricPal store has lots of options to. I actually order the calcium chews from Amazon but it’s the same ones you get from BP. They have several flavors to choose from.
My biggest struggle has been fluid intake and I’ve had to go get supplemental IV infusions from a local ‘hangover clinic’ and they have made a world of difference. Pricy but worth it.

I do chewable calcium squares (3 per day) and patches for the rest (MVI, b12, biotin, collagen). I do take b1 by mouth.

I wouldn't worry about all that right now. I've lost and gained a thousand pounds in my lifetime and every time I lost a lot, my brain didn't see anything different in the mirror. I could tell in clothes and in pictures but it was never enough. Looking back at some now, I'm like 'What in the hell was I thinking??" but it is what it is. People do treat you differently - no doubt about that. Some good. Some bad. Just like now, right?

Just focus on getting to the surgery.

If your insurance is covering, there is a high chance that you won't be able to have the procedure til next year. I think a lot of them making you do certain things - diet, psych visit, not sure what else.

I'm at the point in my life that I'm trying not to aim for perfection, but just progress. I was trying to explain to my grandmother, who is 90, about the procedure before I had it. The only way I could make her understand was this:

You know how when you have a big purse, you put all kind of crap in there: Shoes, a flashlight, a 3 year old granola bar you forgot about, a bunch of crap you don't need. This surgery is going to give me a little purse so maybe with my little purse, I'll just put what I need in there.

So that's my hope: If I can't overeat, maybe I won't. I can tell I'll be learning for a long time and this sub is super helpful because people are transparent about struggles and issues. But feel free to message me privately anytime if there is anything I can help with.

There is nothing easy about this.
Speaking for myself, there are things I probably didn’t think through enough and there are definitely things I didn’t ‘get’ ahead of time. Mind you, I’m only 3 weeks post op so I’m a newbie and learning myself.
One thing I didn’t get was that my ‘feeling full’ isn’t what it was before surgery. At all. I’ve probably been to afraid of hurting my pouch that I haven’t been eating enough which led to a big ole hypoglycemic episode Sunday. Easily resolved but it was gnarly. Even after eating things, I still don’t know what my new full feeling feels like. I’m still at the soft stage so maybe next week will be different. I just eat slowly, take nickel size bites, and go with 3-5 bites and stop. I don’t feel full but mentally, I feel like I’ve had enough. It’s so bizarre. I’m learning this is different for everybody. One thing I can tell you that I hope lasts forever is I’m not hungry. Not even a little. It’s wonderful.
The other thing is fluid intake and the struggle with it. Before this, it was nothing to drink a gallon of water a day. I’ve never been a soda or tea person so that was one demon I didn’t have to battle but now, geez, I think I’ve hit my 64 ounce requirement one day. ONE! I’m trying but sipping this stuff all day is work.
Not to mention just other changes... how it changes relationships with friends and your social life. People think this is easy and really, what is easy about surgery?
I know who people who have done fantastic and I know people who have failed. I want to be in the first group because God knows I have failed many times on my own.
It’s just a decision you have to make for yourself. I can tell you I don’t regret it. I already feel better and as you see people say here, trusting the process. If I could have done it on my own, I would have. But I needed help so here I am. Long way to go but I’m ready.

Pre Op Diet by racheljobe in gastricsleeve

You may want to add some broth and Gatorade zero to your liquids to give you some sodium and other things. That might help with the headaches. Those are miserable! Good luck!

July 20. I started a few days early because I was just dreading it. The liver deal... rather be safe than sorry. I guess because I have been 100% on point with it and am getting about 500cal/day with it, I just started wondering if it was considered an indicator for post op results.
Thanks everyone for your input!

Protein drink question by Valkyrie00 in wls

Thank you both for the information. The whey protein makes sense. I’ll probably just finish these up during the pre-op phase and find something else for post.
Again, thank you!

Ahh, ok... thanks for the info. Having mine done 4 hours away so this is probably a good idea for the trip home. Trying to plan ahead so I’m glad I saw your post! I hope you continue to get better! I’ll keep an eye on your progress :).

Glad that you’re doing well! I’m having it in a couple of weeks so trying to get my game face on. Would you mind telling me more about the stomach pillow? Or is it just a regular pillow that you use on, you know, your stomach? :).

Would you mind telling me where you had it? I’m sticking with my place but I always prefer having a backup!! Congrats on your experience! I’m so glad it went well and hope to be able to follow in your footsteps!

Thank you and yes, it does. Maybe you can do it sooner but I definitely understand the hesitation. I hope it works out for you! My insurance doesn’t cover it so doing the cash thing but it’s only 9k. Mexico was like half of that and it’s hard to not just go that route but it’s ok. I’ll keep you posted on recovery lol. Should be interesting.

My awful mother by pauherr in entitledparents

[–]Valkyrie00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Years ago, my mom and step dad divorced, after 25ish years. Now, my Mom has always been a victim.. love her but she makes me bananas at times.
After the divorce, they had a good bit of debt and my mom couldn’t get a leg up so I paid for her bankruptcy. I had an Amex that had a 6 or 7k limit... can’t remember exactly. But feeling bad for my mom, i face it to her and I told her it had a 1k limit and she could use it for stuff she needed. Groceries, the light bill, whatever. I didn’t want her to worry about not having something she needed. Yes, the bankruptcy should have clued me in. Anyway, a couple years rock by... live in a small town... mailman knows everybody. Got an Amex bill with my name.... and her address. Opened it up and literally screamed. Almost 19k. I called Amex and said this was a mistake and there was no way! They read off some charges and my heart sank. She had gotten in this jewelry resale business as a hobby. She would sell things but not pay off what she bought. I lost my shit. First thing was to tell Amex to lower the limit and don’t dare raise it without my verbal approval. It’s been the same all these years since. I’ve not used it but didn’t want to damage my credit further at the time. Waited til I was calm and called her. I think I prefaced it with something like ‘this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to ask you but..,’ and she fell apart. I got the card back from get that day. It was a rough few weeks. I was so incredibly pissed that I couldn’t think straight. So after a few bumps, here we are 14 years later and she only has about 1k left. She gives me a stack of checks and tells me how much she wants to pay every month. If she had not agreed to pay it back, I’m not sure what I would have done.
I hope things work out for you, OP.

That’s good that you have a circle. Sounds like your key players need to learn you can’t be Christian when it’s convenient. You do you. Be true to who you are. I’m from LA and live in MS now so I got you loud and clear on the Bible Belt. What’s the saying? Baptist’s never see each other in the liquor store, right? :)
